The Kaleidescape Strato M brings high-bitrate movie playback, lossless immersive audio and Dolby Vision HDR to home theaters, media rooms and whole-home entertainment systems. Designed as an accessible entry point into the Kaleidescape ecosystem, this compact 2K movie player operates independently with its built-in solid-state storage or as part of a larger system with a Terra Prime movie server.

Unlike conventional streaming devices, Strato M downloads movies from the Kaleidescape movie store to local storage before playback. With movie bitrates reaching up to 100 Mbps, it delivers high-quality video and lossless audio without relying on a continuous internet stream during viewing.

Lossless Dolby Atmos and DTS:X Audio

Strato M delivers lossless multichannel and object-based audio, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. These formats preserve the original soundtrack's detail and dynamic range, allowing compatible home theater processors, amplifiers and loudspeakers to reproduce everything from subtle dialogue to powerful cinematic effects.

For systems with capable surround sound equipment, Strato M offers a significant audio upgrade over typical compressed streaming soundtracks. Its HDMI output carries both audio and video, simplifying connection to a compatible AV receiver or home theater processor.

Reference 2K Video with Dolby Vision

Strato M supports high-bitrate movie downloads with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and BT.2020 wide color gamut. Its reference 2K output supports up to 4:2:2 chroma sampling, delivering detailed imagery and rich color reproduction on compatible televisions and projectors.

Although it can download and play 4K titles, Strato M outputs video at a maximum of 2K resolution, including when connected to a 4K display. It is particularly suited to 1080p projection systems, secondary viewing rooms and installations where lossless audio and high-quality HDR playback take priority over native 4K output.

Standalone Playback with Built-In SSD Storage

Strato M includes a 480GB solid-state drive, providing enough storage for approximately six high-bitrate Kaleidescape movies. Its compact standalone interface makes it easy to browse, purchase, download and enjoy movies without requiring a separate server.

Movies can be downloaded in minutes over a Gigabit Ethernet connection. After playback, downloaded titles become eligible for automatic deletion after 48 hours, freeing space for new movies. Purchased titles remain in your Kaleidescape library and can be downloaded again whenever needed.

This approach combines the convenience of a digital movie collection with the consistent playback quality of locally stored content.

Expand with Kaleidescape Terra Prime

Strato M can grow alongside your home theater. Adding a compatible Terra or Terra Prime movie server expands available movie storage and allows multiple Kaleidescape players to share a centralized library.

Grouped operation also enables Kaleidescape's full movie-library interface, including its signature cover-art browsing experience, expanded navigation and parental control features. Multiple Strato players can be installed throughout the home, with Strato M serving secondary viewing areas and a compatible 4K player serving the main theater.

When grouped with a server, Strato M uses the server's storage rather than its internal SSD.

Compact, Silent and Easy to Integrate

Measuring just 6.4 inches wide, 1.1 inches high and 6.4 inches deep, Strato M fits easily into entertainment cabinets and equipment racks or behind compatible displays.

Its fanless design operates silently, making it suitable for bedrooms, living rooms and dedicated theater installations where equipment noise is undesirable. Optional wall-mount and 1U rack-mount accessories provide additional installation flexibility.

Strato M supports HDMI CEC, infrared control and integration with compatible automation systems, including Control4, Crestron, Savant, Josh.ai and Lutron.
