VPI Prime X Reference Turntable
The VPI Prime X Turntable takes the proven design philosophy of the original VPI Prime and pushes it further with a longer 12-inch JMW 3D UniPivot tonearm, massive 20-pound aluminum platter, and upgraded HW-40 isolation feet. Built for serious vinyl enthusiasts, the Prime X provides a substantial high-performance analog platform with the flexibility to accommodate reference-level cartridges and phono systems.
The Prime X is an excellent choice for listeners who want the performance and adjustability of a serious VPI turntable while maintaining the straightforward mechanical engineering that has made the Prime series so successful.
JMW-12 3D UniPivot Tonearm
At the heart of the Prime X is VPI's JMW-12 3D tonearm. With an effective length of 313mm, the longer 12-inch design helps reduce tracking distortion across the record.
The arm uses VPI's 3D technology with a construction incorporating epoxy resin and Delrin materials and features VPI copper-weave internal wiring.
Adjustment capabilities include:
- Adjustable drop counterweight
- Azimuth side weights
- VTA adjustment
- Lemo connection
This level of adjustability makes the Prime X an excellent platform for properly setting up a wide range of high-performance moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges.
20-Pound Aluminum Platter
The Prime X uses a substantial 12-inch machined aluminum platter weighing 20 pounds, providing significant rotational mass for excellent speed stability.
A 300 RPM, 24-pole AC synchronous motor drives the platter, while the upgraded HW-40 isolation feet help mechanically isolate the turntable from unwanted external vibration.
