Overview
VPI Scout 21 Turntable
The VPI Scout 21 Turntable continues the legacy of one of VPI’s most successful and highly regarded turntables. Made in the USA, the Scout 21 combines VPI’s signature JMW-9 Uni-Pivot tonearm, a substantial machined aluminum platter, outboard motor, and improved isolation system in a straightforward high-performance design built for serious vinyl playback.
Designed as a significant step into high-end analog without unnecessary complexity, the Scout 21 provides an excellent foundation for a dedicated two-channel HiFi system and offers the flexibility to grow as cartridges, phono stages, and the rest of the system are upgraded.
JMW-9 Uni-Pivot Tonearm
The Scout 21 includes VPI’s 9-inch JMW-9 Uni-Pivot tonearm. The Uni-Pivot design provides exceptionally free movement while minimizing unnecessary mechanical interaction with the cartridge, allowing the stylus to accurately retrieve the information contained in the record groove.
Its design also makes the Scout an excellent platform for experimenting with and upgrading moving-magnet and moving-coil phono cartridges.
Heavy Aluminum Platter & Outboard Motor
A machined 11.5-inch aluminum platter weighing 10.5 pounds provides substantial rotational mass for stable vinyl playback.
VPI's 300 RPM outboard motor mechanically separates the motor from the main turntable chassis, while improved isolation feet help reduce the transmission of unwanted vibration into the record and tonearm.
A screw-down Delrin record clamp further stabilizes the record against the platter during playback.
