VPI Avenger High-End Turntable

The VPI Avenger is one of the most versatile high-end turntables in the VPI lineup. Built around a substantial three-layer acrylic/aluminum/acrylic chassis, the Avenger combines mass, mechanical isolation, precision machining and an exceptionally flexible tonearm platform.

This is a turntable designed to grow with a serious analog system. The Avenger can accommodate up to three tonearms, including arms from other manufacturers and of different lengths, making it especially appealing to vinyl enthusiasts who want to run multiple cartridges or build a truly customized analog front end.

Three-Layer Avenger Chassis

The heart of the Avenger is its distinctive chassis.

VPI bonds layers of acrylic, aluminum and acrylic together with damping material between them, creating a rigid but highly damped structure designed to control unwanted resonance.

Three stainless-steel corner posts provide mechanical grounding, isolation and support for the tonearm assemblies. Adjustable machined controls allow the chassis to be leveled precisely.

The fully adjustable armboards are machined from 5/8-inch 6061 aluminum for rigidity and grounding.

Up to Three Tonearms

One of the Avenger's defining features is its ability to accommodate as many as three tonearms.

That opens up possibilities that simply aren't available with most turntables. An Avenger system could be configured with separate moving-coil and moving-magnet cartridges, a dedicated mono cartridge, or completely different tonearms and cartridge combinations.

VPI designed the platform to accommodate different tonearm manufacturers and arm lengths, making the Avenger an unusually flexible foundation for a serious vinyl collection.

VPI JMW-12 3D Tonearm

The standard Avenger includes VPI's JMW-12 3D tonearm with VPI copper-weave internal wiring.

Its 12-inch architecture helps minimize tracking-angle error while providing extensive adjustment for properly dialing in a high-performance cartridge.

Precision Belt-Drive System

The Avenger uses a 300 RPM, 24-pole AC synchronous motor housed separately from the main chassis to help isolate motor vibration from the platter and tonearm.

A precision-machined motor pulley drives the aluminum platter through VPI's belt-drive system.

The inverted main bearing uses a hardened stainless-steel shaft, hardened ball, phosphor-bronze bushing and PEEK thrust disc. VPI positions the belt side-load at the center of the rotating bearing to minimize unwanted rocking forces on the platter.
