The Trinnov Amplitude16 is a high-performance 16-channel power amplifier designed specifically for the demands of immersive home cinema.

Developed with ICEpower to Trinnov's specifications, the Amplitude16 combines 16 channels of powerful Class D amplification, dual independent power supplies, exceptional rack efficiency, bridgeable channels, and optional Dante Audio over IP connectivity.

Delivering 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms, the Amplitude16 provides enough channels to power a substantial immersive theater from a single amplifier.

And when additional power is needed, channels can be bridged in pairs to deliver up to 800 watts into 8 ohms.

16 Channels of High-Performance Amplification

The Amplitude16 is essentially two independent eight-channel amplifiers operating within a single chassis, with each section receiving its own dedicated power supply.

In its standard configuration, it delivers:

• 200 watts into 8 ohms
• 400 watts into 4 ohms

This allows one Amplitude16 to power a large Dolby Atmos, DTS Pro, or Auro-3D loudspeaker system without requiring a rack full of individual amplifiers.

Trinnov specifies total output capability of 2,800 watts with all channels driven on 120V power and 3,200 watts on 230V power.

Peak output capability reaches an impressive 6,080 watts.

Up to 800 Watts in Bridged Mode

One of the Amplitude16's biggest advantages is its flexibility.

Channels can be bridged in pairs when additional power is required, delivering up to:

• 800 watts into 8 ohms
• 1,000 watts into 4 ohms

This gives a theater designer the ability to allocate amplifier power according to the needs of the actual loudspeakers.

For example, channels can be bridged to provide substantially greater power to demanding left, center, and right screen speakers, while the remaining channels operate normally to power surrounds and overhead speakers.

That makes the Amplitude16 much more than simply a 16-channel amplifier.

Designed for Trinnov Altitude

The Amplitude16 was specifically engineered to complement the Trinnov Altitude16, Altitude32, and AltitudeCI processors.

Its input sensitivity is precisely matched to the output characteristics of the Altitude processors, helping preserve dynamic range while minimizing unnecessary system noise.

This becomes increasingly important in theaters containing large numbers of loudspeakers and amplifier channels, where small amounts of noise can accumulate across the system.

The result is a system designed to remain quiet when it should be and extraordinarily dynamic when the soundtrack demands it.

Optional Dante Audio over IP

The Amplitude16 is now available with an optional Dante input board, transforming it from a conventional multichannel amplifier into a networked Audio over IP component.

The Dante board provides up to 16 digital audio inputs over standard Ethernet and is also AES67 compatible.

When paired with the Trinnov AltitudeCI, audio can be transmitted digitally from the processor to the amplifier over the network.

Digital-to-analog conversion then takes place inside the Amplitude16 itself.

The Dante implementation uses the same DAC architecture as the AltitudeCI, providing a tightly integrated Trinnov digital signal path while significantly simplifying rack cabling.

Together, an AltitudeCI and Dante-equipped Amplitude16 can create a complete Trinnov Audio over IP processing and amplification system in only 5RU of rack space.

DirectLink Integration

When combined with AltitudeCI and Dante, Amplitude16 can become part of Trinnov's DirectLink architecture.

This allows Audio over IP traffic to be separated from normal control and internet network traffic, providing a cleaner and more purpose-built network architecture for sophisticated cinema installations.

For professionally designed theaters, this can simplify installation while improving system organization and serviceability.

Balanced Analog Connectivity

For conventional installations, Amplitude16 provides 16 channels of balanced analog input through two DB25 connectors using the standard Tascam analog pinout.

DB25 connectivity allows 16 balanced channels to be connected using only two compact cables, dramatically reducing rack clutter compared with individual XLR connections.

Each amplifier channel uses its own high-quality five-way binding posts for loudspeaker connection.

Exceptional Audio Performance

The Amplitude16 isn't simply about fitting more amplifier channels into less rack space.

Trinnov specifies extremely low distortion and noise:

• 0.0015% THD+N in single-ended operation
• 0.0015% THD+N in bridged operation
• 126 dB signal-to-noise ratio
• Less than 0.05% intermodulation distortion
• Load-independent frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz

Damping factor reaches 2,340 at 100Hz, providing substantial electrical control over connected loudspeakers.

Dual Power-Supply Architecture

The Amplitude16 uses two independent power supplies, one for each eight-channel amplifier section.

Two IEC power connections feed the amplifier, with each power supply automatically accepting 100–240V AC.

This dual architecture contributes to the amplifier's ability to deliver substantial output across large numbers of channels simultaneously.
