Up to 20 Discrete Channels

Despite its name, the Altitude16 can now decode and optimize up to 20 discrete channels.

The processor provides 16 balanced XLR analog outputs, while Trinnov's +4 Channels capability combines the analog and S/PDIF outputs to expand the system to as many as 20 discrete channels of decoding and optimization.

This provides enormous flexibility for sophisticated Dolby Atmos and DTS Pro speaker layouts, additional subwoofers, and custom theater configurations.

Dolby Atmos Without Conventional Layout Restrictions

The Altitude16 can decode and render Dolby Atmos using virtually any speaker layout within its 20-channel capability.

Trinnov Optimizer

At the heart of the Altitude16 is the Trinnov Optimizer, the company's advanced loudspeaker and room optimization platform.

Using Trinnov's proprietary 3D calibration microphone, Optimizer measures not only frequency response but also the actual three-dimensional position of every loudspeaker in the room.

The system provides extensive control over frequency response, phase, impulse response, levels, delays, crossover behavior, and bass management.

Rather than simply applying automatic EQ, Optimizer gives a trained calibrator an extraordinarily sophisticated set of tools for integrating the loudspeakers, subwoofers, electronics, and room into one complete system.

Exclusive Trinnov 3D Remapping

Even carefully designed theaters sometimes require compromises in speaker placement.

Trinnov's patented 3D Remapping technology addresses this by measuring the actual distance, azimuth, and elevation of every loudspeaker.

The processor then compares the real-world speaker locations with the intended locations of sounds within the soundtrack.

When necessary, Remapping uses adjacent loudspeakers and stereo imaging to reposition sound closer to where the content creator intended it to originate.

The result is a more accurate and convincing immersive sound field even when architectural limitations prevent theoretically perfect speaker placement.

Advanced Bass Management

Bass management is another area where the Altitude16 goes far beyond a conventional AV processor.

Low-frequency information from any channel can be routed to any combination of subwoofers, with extensive control over crossover frequencies, filter types, and slopes.

There is no predetermined limitation on the number of subwoofer channels beyond the processor's available outputs.

Trinnov's intermediate bass management can even redirect bass from a smaller speaker to a nearby full-range speaker before sending the deepest frequencies to the subwoofers.

For sophisticated multi-subwoofer theaters, this level of control provides tremendous flexibility during system design and calibration.

Trinnov WaveForming

The Altitude platform also supports Trinnov WaveForming, the company's advanced approach to low-frequency reproduction in properly designed multi-subwoofer rooms.

WaveForming is intended to control how bass energy propagates through the room rather than simply correcting the response at one listening position.

When the room, subwoofer locations, and system are designed appropriately, WaveForming can provide substantially more consistent low-frequency performance across multiple seats while addressing the room modes that traditionally make bass difficult to control.

Altitude16 uses 64-bit floating-point audio processing and processes high-resolution audio natively at up to 24-bit/96kHz.
