Transrotor Magnetic Drive: The Technology at Its Heart

The Massimo Nero comes equipped with Transrotor Magnetic Drive, or TMD.

Instead of relying on a completely rigid mechanical connection between the driven section of the bearing and the platter, the TMD system uses magnetic coupling.

Its upper and lower bearing sections can rotate relative to one another. Three pairs of attracting magnets transfer rotational movement from the driven lower section to the upper section.

This arrangement is designed to reduce the direct transmission of unwanted drive-system vibration while maintaining consistent platter rotation.

Unlike the optional TMD upgrades available for certain other Transrotor models, TMD is standard equipment on the Massimo Nero.

 

An 80 mm POM Platter Built Around Mass

The Massimo Nero features a substantial black POM platter measuring 80 mm thick and weighing approximately 15 kg.

That mass provides rotational inertia, helping the platter maintain steady movement as the stylus traces the record groove.

The platter works alongside the TMD bearing and a substantial POM-and-steel chassis to create a mechanically robust playback platform.

Stainless-steel metal components and a matching record weight complete the turntable's purposeful, understated appearance.

One of the Massimo Nero's most distinctive features is its capacity for up to four tonearms.

Its continuously adjustable tonearm bases give specialist dealers considerable freedom when configuring the system.

Imagine having a moving-coil cartridge for critical listening, a moving-magnet cartridge for everyday playback, and a dedicated mono cartridge for your favorite vintage recordings—all without repeatedly removing and reinstalling cartridges.

The standard Massimo Nero uses a single-motor drive system, but a second motor can be added.

This optional configuration requires the appropriate additional motor kit and a compatible Konstant M-2 Reference power supply.
