The Theory Audio Design ic5 is a high-output, 5-inch architectural in-ceiling loudspeaker engineered for premium residential audio, distributed music systems and commercial installations. Combining a carbon-fiber woofer, a professional compression driver and exceptionally wide dispersion, the ic5 delivers detailed, full-range sound from a compact, discreet ceiling-mounted enclosure.

Designed as a smaller alternative to Theory's ic6, the ic5 offers similar acoustic characteristics with a more compact footprint. Its integrated back can, selectable 16-ohm or 70V/100V operation and dedicated Theory DSP processing make it a versatile solution for luxury homes, restaurants, hospitality venues and corporate environments.

High-Performance Coaxial Driver Technology

At the heart of the ic5 is Theory's proprietary 5-inch coaxial driver, pairing a carbon-fiber low-frequency driver with a 1.4-inch AdvancedPoly compression driver. This configuration delivers consistent acoustic performance, excellent vocal intelligibility and extended high-frequency reproduction.

With a frequency response extending from 69 Hz to 23 kHz (-6 dB), the ic5 provides wide-bandwidth reproduction suitable for both background music and demanding foreground listening applications.

Its 114 dB peak SPL capability provides substantial dynamic headroom for a compact architectural loudspeaker.

Exceptionally Wide 120-Degree Coverage

The ic5 is engineered to distribute sound evenly throughout the listening area, with 120-degree conical coverage at 10 kHz.

Its broad dispersion helps maintain tonal consistency across large rooms, reducing the number of speakers required to achieve uniform coverage. This makes the ic5 particularly suitable for open-concept living spaces, dining areas, hospitality environments and commercial installations where listeners move throughout the space.

Compact Architectural Design

The ic5 features a molded ABS frame with an integrated powder-coated aluminum back can. Its self-contained enclosure provides consistent acoustic performance without relying on the construction or volume of the ceiling cavity.

Included frameless round and square perforated metal grilles offer a discreet architectural appearance. Both grilles are white and paintable to complement the surrounding ceiling.

Three retractable mounting clamps simplify installation, while optional pre-construction brackets and ceiling tile bridges accommodate new construction and commercial suspended-ceiling applications.

For suitable exterior installations, the ic5 can also be used with an optional all-weather grille.

Flexible 16-Ohm and 70V/100V Operation

Selectable low-impedance and high-impedance operation allows the ic5 to accommodate a wide range of residential and commercial audio systems.

Its 16-ohm configuration is suited to multichannel architectural installations, while 70V/100V operation simplifies distributed audio systems requiring multiple loudspeakers across larger spaces.

The ic5 requires a compatible Theory amplified loudspeaker controller with model-specific Theory-certified DSP processing.
