Theory Professional

The DLC-250.8's power-sharing architecture allows available amplifier power to be allocated between neighboring channels according to the loudspeaker configuration. Direct high-impedance operation eliminates the need for internal output transformers, simplifying installations that combine conventional loudspeakers with distributed audio systems.

A single controller can drive up to 32 compatible Theory 16-ohm loudspeakers in low-impedance mode or up to 128 in high-impedance mode, subject to the installation's power requirements.

AutomatorIP Home Theater Configuration

Theory's AutomatorIP software simplifies the design and deployment of multichannel surround sound systems. Its five-step configuration interface guides installers through speaker selection, system setup and optimization.

Using a single DLC-250.8, installers can configure surround sound systems with up to eight loudspeakers, including 7.1 and 5.1.2 configurations. Theory states that a complete system can be configured in as little as 15 minutes.

This makes the controller particularly useful for dedicated media rooms, immersive home theaters and residential installations where efficient configuration and consistent loudspeaker performance are priorities.

Integrated 32-bit digital signal processing provides model-specific optimization for Theory loudspeakers alongside comprehensive tools for system calibration.

The processing platform includes input matrix mixing, five parametric input EQ filters, ten parametric output EQ filters, crossovers, delay, gain adjustment, polarity control and peak and RMS limiting.

Priority-based signal routing and automatic audio ducking also support commercial applications requiring multiple audio sources, paging or announcement systems.

Flexible Analog and Digital Connectivity

The DLC-250.8 provides eight balanced analog inputs, eight unbalanced RCA inputs and stereo S/PDIF digital connectivity. Eight amplified speaker outputs and a stereo S/PDIF digital output provide additional system flexibility.

An onboard web interface is accessible through wired Ethernet or the controller's built-in Wi-Fi access point, allowing installers to configure routing, processing and loudspeaker presets without dedicated configuration hardware.

Smart Home and Professional Control Integration

The DLC-250.8 supports integration with leading residential automation and professional control platforms through its published API and available control modules.

Supported platforms include Control4, Crestron, Crestron Home, AMX, ELAN, Q-SYS, RTI and Symetrix.

For convenient local operation, the optional Theory DLC-CTRL wall controller provides PoE-powered source selection and volume adjustment.
