The Theory Audio Design ic6 v2 is a high-output, 6.5-inch architectural in-ceiling speaker engineered for premium residential audio, immersive home theaters and commercial sound systems. Combining a carbon-fiber woofer, AdvancedPoly compression driver and an integrated tuned enclosure, the ic6 delivers powerful bass, exceptional clarity and remarkably wide coverage from a discreet ceiling-mounted design.

Unlike conventional in-ceiling speakers that rely on subwoofers for substantial low-frequency output, the ic6 uses computer-optimized tuned ports and Theory-certified DSP processing to achieve extended bass response. Its 68 Hz–23 kHz frequency response (-6 dB) makes it suitable for demanding foreground music applications, including installations where a separate subwoofer may not be necessary.

High-Output Coaxial Driver Technology

The ic6 features a proprietary 6.5-inch coaxial driver combining a carbon-fiber low-frequency driver with a 1.4-inch AdvancedPoly compression driver. This configuration provides precise acoustic alignment, high sensitivity and consistent tonal reproduction across a broad listening area.

With a maximum peak output of 118 dB SPL at one meter, the ic6 offers substantial dynamic capability for an architectural loudspeaker of its size. Whether used for high-resolution stereo music, distributed audio or immersive home theater, its high-output design supports detailed playback at both background and foreground listening levels.

Exceptionally Wide Sound Coverage

The Theory ic6 is engineered to deliver consistent sound throughout large listening spaces, including rooms with relatively low ceilings.

Its 125-degree conical coverage at -6 dB (10 kHz) and 172-degree coverage at -12 dB (9.8 kHz) allow fewer loudspeakers to cover expansive areas while maintaining high-frequency clarity.

This broad dispersion makes the ic6 particularly suitable for open-concept living areas, luxury residences, restaurants, hospitality venues and commercial entertainment spaces.

Architectural Design and Installation Flexibility

The ic6 features a molded ABS frame with an integrated powder-coated steel back can. Its self-contained enclosure provides predictable acoustic performance without relying on the size or construction of the ceiling cavity.

Both round and square white paintable metal grilles are included, allowing the speaker to blend into contemporary interiors. Four retractable mounting clamps simplify installation.

For outdoor applications, an optional all-weather grille allows the ic6 to be installed in suitable exterior environments.

Selectable 16-ohm and 70V/100V operation provides flexibility for dedicated residential audio systems and larger distributed commercial installations.
