The T+A Power Bar 2+3 HD is a high-end mains power distribution system engineered specifically for premium audio components. Rather than treating every connected device identically, T+A provides two outlets for analog components and three individually decoupled outlets for digital source components, helping prevent interference generated by one component from contaminating another.

The HD version adds an exceptionally substantial mechanical foundation with a massive bottom plate machined from solid aluminum, complementing the rigid aluminum enclosure and extensive electrical shielding.

Dedicated Analog and Digital Power Outlets

Different audio components place very different demands on the AC supply.

Power amplifiers and other analog electronics can draw substantial instantaneous current, while digital components such as streamers, DACs, and disc players can introduce high-frequency interference back into the shared AC supply.

The Power Bar 2+3 HD addresses these differences with:

The three source-device outlets are individually decoupled to help prevent electrical crosstalk between connected components.

Sophisticated Mains Filtering

T+A employs multiple stages of filtering rather than relying on a single suppression device.

A broadband shield-current blocking filter provides initial filtering against mains-borne interference.

This is followed by a symmetrical, current-compensated PI main filter, while the individual source outlets receive additional matched decoupling filters.

The objective is to suppress interference entering the audio system from the AC line while also reducing contamination generated by components within the system itself.

High-Current Power Delivery

Filtering is only part of the design.

A high-performance audio power distribution system must also provide the current demanded by large amplifiers without unnecessarily restricting power delivery.

The North American 115V version is rated for up to 15A and 1,725 watts, with available current distributed between the individual outlets as required.

Radial Internal Wiring

T+A uses radial wiring from a central input point for the protective earth, line, and neutral conductors.

Shielded High-Performance Power Cable

The integrated mains cable uses 3 × 1.5 mm² pure-copper stranded conductors surrounded by a silver-plated external woven shield.

The braided cable shield is connected to the aluminum enclosure, extending electromagnetic shielding from the incoming power cable through the Power Bar itself.

The supplied mains cable measures approximately 2 meters / 6.6 feet.

Full Aluminum Shielded Chassis

Very high currents can create substantial electromagnetic fields inside a power distribution system.

T+A therefore constructs the Power Bar around a high-strength, torsionally rigid aluminum extrusion rather than a conventional plastic power-strip enclosure.

The HD version goes further with end caps and a substantial base machined from solid aluminum.

The resulting enclosure provides both mechanical rigidity and comprehensive shielding for the internal power-distribution and filtering circuitry.

Integrated Surge Protection

The Power Bar 2+3 HD incorporates protection against potentially damaging voltage spikes.

T+A specifies a 300V RMS trigger voltage and a surge suppression capacity of 10,000 amps for 20 microseconds.

This protection is integrated directly into the power distribution architecture to help prevent high-voltage transients from reaching connected audio components.

Correct Mains Phase Indicator

An integrated LED mains phase indicator helps ensure the Power Bar is connected to the AC supply with the intended polarity.

T+A considers correct mains connection an important part of optimizing a complete high-end audio system, particularly when multiple interconnected components share the same AC distribution point.
