The T+A PDT 3100 HV is a reference-grade CD and SACD transport engineered in Germany for uncompromising digital disc playback. Unlike conventional CD players, the PDT 3100 HV contains no internal digital-to-analog converter. Its sole purpose is to read Compact Discs and Super Audio CDs with exceptional mechanical precision and deliver their digital audio data to an external reference DAC.

At its core is T+A's proprietary high-precision linear-tracking disc mechanism, featuring separate laser systems for CD and SACD, a heavily shielded aluminum drive assembly and a sophisticated three-point suspension system.

The PDT 3100 HV provides AES/EBU, coaxial RCA, BNC and optical digital outputs, along with T+A's proprietary high-resolution IPA Link, which transfers both PCM and DSD data to compatible T+A HV Series converters.

Precision Linear-Tracking CD/SACD Mechanism

The PDT 3100 HV uses a purpose-built disc mechanism developed specifically for high-performance audio playback.

Its precision linear-tracking drive incorporates advanced servo control, high-performance motors and a dual GaAlAs laser system with separate wavelengths for each disc format:

• 785nm laser: CD playback

• 650nm laser: SACD playback

T+A's Optimized Speed mechanism controls disc rotation and data retrieval to support reliable reading of both formats.

The transport supports standard CDs, recordable and rewritable CDs, stereo SACDs and compatible CD/SACD text information.

Massive Aluminum Drive Assembly and Mechanical Isolation

The PDT 3100 HV's transport mechanism is housed inside a substantial shielded enclosure machined from solid aluminum.

The complete mechanism is supported by two precision linear bearings mounted to a thick carrier plate. That assembly connects to the central chassis through only three carefully engineered mounting points.

This mechanically decoupled architecture reduces the transmission of external vibration into the disc mechanism and limits interaction between moving components and sensitive electronics.

High-Resolution IPA Link for PCM and DSD

T+A's proprietary IPA Link (LVDS) provides a dedicated digital connection between the PDT 3100 HV and compatible T+A reference DACs.

Unlike conventional S/PDIF connections, which generally transmit the CD-compatible PCM layer of hybrid SACDs, the IPA Link is designed to transfer native PCM and DSD digital data from the disc mechanism to compatible T+A converters.

This makes the PDT 3100 HV an ideal companion for the SD 3100 HV and SDV 3100 HV, allowing these systems to reproduce the high-resolution DSD content of SACD recordings.

For conventional CD playback, the transport also provides multiple standard digital outputs for integration with other high-performance DACs.
