The T+A G 2000 R is a high-end belt-drive turntable engineered to extract the musical character of vinyl while controlling the mechanical problems that compromise analog playback. Rather than relying solely on mass, T+A combines a heavily damped chassis, precision bearing system, electronically controlled synchronous motor, and DSP-regulated drive system to achieve exceptional speed stability and isolation.

Its 3.8 kg pressure-cast aluminum platter is mounted on an isolated inner zinc platter and topped with a substantial silicone-rubber mat. The chassis combines solid MDF, aluminum sandwich construction, and four shock absorbers to suppress structural vibration before it reaches the cartridge.

DSP-Controlled Motor Drive

The G 2000 R approaches turntable speed control differently from many traditional belt-drive designs.

A high-quality synchronous motor drives the platter through a precision-machined pulley and specially ground rubber belt. T+A then uses digital signal processing to optimize the voltage waveform supplied to the motor.

The DSP regulates motor behavior to reduce irregular rotational movement and isolates playback speed from fluctuations in the incoming AC supply.

It also allows electronic selection between 33⅓ and 45 RPM.

The result is published wow and flutter of just ±0.02%, giving the G 2000 R the speed stability required for serious analog playback. T+A

Engineered to Control Resonance

A cartridge responds to microscopic movement, which means unwanted mechanical vibration can become part of the signal.

T+A designed the entire G 2000 R structure around controlling those unwanted influences.

The main chassis uses solid MDF for its inherent damping characteristics and is supported by four shock absorbers. External aluminum components use sandwich construction, while the aluminum upper cover is bonded to the body to further suppress resonance.

Even the platter system is treated as part of the isolation strategy.

The 3.8 kg aluminum platter sits on a precision-machined zinc inner platter, while a thick silicone-rubber mat provides additional damping between the record and platter. T+A

Precision Bearing System

The G 2000 R's main bearing uses a hardened and polished steel shaft running inside a close-tolerance plain brass bushing.

T+A manufactures the assembly to a tolerance of just 5 μm.

The platter shaft is press-fitted before the zinc platter undergoes its final CNC machining process, helping maintain precise alignment throughout the rotating assembly.

It's the kind of mechanical detail that matters in a turntable: the quieter and more stable the platform, the less interference the cartridge must distinguish from the information contained in the groove. T+A

Available as a Complete Analog Source

The G 2000 R can be configured as considerably more than a bare turntable.

T+A offers the system with a modified high-end carbon-fiber tonearm from Clearaudio and its MC 2 moving-coil cartridge. The company can also supply the G 2000 R without a tonearm or cartridge for listeners who want to configure their own analog front end.

An optional PHE-R MM or MC phono module can be factory-installed directly inside the turntable chassis, creating an exceptionally clean solution with fewer external components.

This flexibility makes the G 2000 R equally compelling as a complete T+A analog source or as the foundation for a carefully selected custom cartridge and phono-stage combination. T+A

MC 2 Moving-Coil Cartridge

When specified with T+A's MC 2 cartridge, the G 2000 R arrives with a high-performance moving-coil pickup designed to complement the turntable and tonearm.

The MC 2 features a Micro Line stylus profile, 0.75mV output, 30dB channel separation, and frequency response extending to 45kHz.

Recommended tracking force is 2 grams, with a 100-ohm recommended load impedance. T+A
