Active Shielding Meets Multi-Geometry Power Cable Design

The Synergistic Research Atmosphere Excite SX AC Power Cable combines silver, tungsten and Copper Matrix conductors with an internally powered active shielding system. Designed for high-performance audio components, Excite SX incorporates technologies developed for the company's reference cable series, including graphene-based UEF Matrix Shielding and its SRX long-duration high-voltage conditioning process.

At the center of the design is a combination of three 12 AWG Copper Matrix conductors, a fifth-generation Tricon geometry, a 6N pure-silver AirString and a monocrystalline tungsten AirString. Each conductor type contributes to Synergistic Research's multi-geometry approach to AC power delivery.

Unlike power cords that require an external active-shielding supply, Excite SX houses its own Swiss-made DC-bias power supply within a carbon-fiber UEF cell. The internal supply generates the 30V DC bias used by the shielding system, eliminating the need for an additional wall-mounted power adapter.

Synergistic Research developed Excite SX to combine the current-delivery capabilities of its Copper Matrix architecture with the electromagnetic-noise management of active shielding. The manufacturer describes its intended sonic character as increased resolution, dynamic contrast and a quieter perceived background without introducing high-frequency fatigue.

Silver, Tungsten and Copper Matrix Conductors

The Excite SX uses several conductor geometries rather than relying on a single material or cable construction.

Three 12 AWG Copper Matrix Alloy conductors provide the main power-delivery architecture. These are complemented by a fifth-generation Tricon conductor with monocrystalline Silver Copper Matrix conductors and a separate ground conductor.

Two additional AirString geometries introduce different high-purity metals: one uses 99.9999% monocrystalline silver, while the other uses 99.99% monocrystalline tungsten. Both are handcrafted with sealed PTFE air dielectrics at Synergistic Research's California facility.

The Tricon geometry uses a PTFE dielectric and a triaxial arrangement. The Copper Matrix conductors use modified polyethylene insulation and braided Ground Plane shielding.

Together, these elements form the multi-geometry architecture that distinguishes Excite SX from conventional copper power cords and simpler models in the Atmosphere range.

Integrated 30V Active Shielding

Excite SX incorporates an active-shielding UEF cell containing a Swiss-made DC-bias power supply, a graphene-treated circuit board and SR Quantum Capacitors. The assembly is enclosed in a carbon-fiber cylinder and uses a PTFE dielectric.

The internal supply generates the 30V DC bias required for the cable's active shielding, avoiding the separate power supplies used by some earlier Synergistic Research designs.

The shielding incorporates the company's UEF Matrix technology, which places proprietary treatment elements at selected points along the cable shield. Atmosphere SX adds carbon-fiber UEF tuning discs developed for this cable generation.

A Galileo SX Black Active Module completes the active-bias circuit and is required for the cable's intended operation. It should remain installed during normal use.

Synergistic Research attributes reduced perceived noise and greater low-level musical detail to this combination of active shielding, Ground Plane technology and UEF treatment. These are manufacturer-described listening characteristics rather than guaranteed results in every system.

SRX Long-Duration High-Voltage Conditioning

The Excite SX undergoes Synergistic Research's SRX long-duration high-voltage conditioning process, originally developed for its flagship SRX cable series.

The manufacturer describes this proprietary process as applying a sequence of high-voltage, frequency-swept treatments over an extended period. It is intended to complement the cable's conductor geometry, shielding and termination design.

Excite SX also incorporates graphene-based UEF treatments applied to its connectors, cabling and grounding elements, along with factory conditioning and burn-in.

These processes form part of Synergistic Research's manufacturing approach and are distinct from the cable's physical conductor and shielding specifications.
