Stewart Filmscreen Balón Edge 120" Fixed Frame Projection Screen – FireHawk G5

Model: BALG3E120HFHG5FLX

The Stewart Filmscreen Balón Edge 120" with FireHawk G5 combines Stewart’s minimalist fixed-frame design with a high-performance ambient-light-rejecting projection surface. Designed for premium home theaters and media rooms where some ambient light may be present, this configuration delivers a large cinematic image with strong contrast, deep perceived black levels, excellent shadow detail, and rich color saturation.

Balón Edge uses a remarkably slim ½-inch black Velux light-absorbing border, providing projector overscan relief while maximizing the visible image. The concealed material attachment and Stewart flush-mount system create a clean architectural installation that sits tight to the wall. An optional LED lighting kit can also be integrated into the frame. ProjectorScreen.com

FireHawk G5 Ambient Light Rejecting Screen

FireHawk G5 is Stewart Filmscreen’s fifth-generation flexible front-projection material engineered for high-powered projection systems in rooms where ambient light is a factor.

With 1.1 peak gain and 73% ambient light rejection, FireHawk G5 is designed to preserve image contrast while rejecting unwanted off-axis room light. Stewart specifically engineers the surface to balance ambient-light resistance with image fidelity, helping minimize compromises such as hot spotting, color shift, and poor off-axis viewing commonly associated with aggressive ALR screens.

The result is excellent black levels, detailed shadows, strong color saturation, and increased image contrast while maintaining the image accuracy expected from a premium Stewart projection surface. Stewart Filmscreen

120" 16:9 Cinematic Image

This configuration provides a 120-inch diagonal image measuring 104.5 inches wide × 58.75 inches high in a native 16:9 HDTV aspect ratio. The competitor listing confirms the exact model, dimensions, fixed-frame construction, FireHawk surface, 1.1 gain, and wall-mounted front-projection configuration. ProjectorScreen.com

At more than 8½ feet wide, the 120-inch image provides a substantial cinematic presentation while the ultra-thin Balón Edge frame keeps attention focused on the picture.

Why Choose FireHawk G5?

FireHawk G5 is particularly valuable when the theater or media room cannot be completely darkened. With 73% ambient light rejection, the surface helps maintain contrast and image depth when uncontrolled light would wash out a conventional matte-white projection screen.

Unlike simply choosing a higher-gain white surface, FireHawk G5 uses its optical properties to improve perceived contrast and black levels while maintaining strong color reproduction and useful off-axis viewing. Its 1.6× minimum throw-distance requirement should be considered when matching the screen with a projector and room layout. Stewart Filmscreen

Minimal Frame. Maximum Image.

The Balón Edge frame is intentionally understated. Its ½-inch black Velux border provides a precise visual boundary and absorbs projector overscan without surrounding the picture with a traditional wide frame.

Stewart’s flush-mount system keeps the screen tight against the wall, while the rear construction conceals the screen material and mounting hardware. An integrated 60-degree LED light rail also allows the optional lighting system to distribute illumination evenly behind the screen. Stewart FilmScreen
