Overview
Sony VPL-GTZ380 4K SXRD Laser Projector
The Sony VPL-GTZ380 is built for serious private cinemas where screen size, brightness, color accuracy, and image quality are all equally important.
With an incredible 10,000 lumens of brightness, native 4K SXRD imaging, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, Sony's flagship X1 Ultimate for projector processing, and an 18-element all-glass ARC-F lens, the GTZ380 brings professional-level projection technology into the home.
This is the projector for large, no-compromise private theaters.
True Native 4K SXRD
The VPL-GTZ380 uses three newly developed native 4K SXRD panels with a true 4096 × 2160 resolution.
There is no pixel shifting or resolution enhancement required to create the 4K image. Each panel contains 8.8 million pixels, allowing the GTZ380 to reproduce extremely fine detail while maintaining the deep blacks and smooth cinematic image for which Sony's SXRD technology is known.
On a large projection screen, true native resolution matters.
10,000 Lumens
With 10,000 lumens of light output, the GTZ380 has the horsepower for the kind of screen sizes that simply aren't practical with conventional home theater projectors.
That additional brightness is particularly valuable with very large screens, acoustically transparent screen materials, HDR content, and rooms where maintaining image impact is a priority.
But brightness alone isn't what makes the GTZ380 special.
Sony designed the light engine to maintain an industry-standard D65 white point and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut without sacrificing brightness.
100% DCI-P3 Without a Color Filter
Many projectors have to choose between maximum brightness and their widest color gamut.
The GTZ380 doesn't.
Its unique laser light source incorporates additional red and blue laser diodes, allowing it to achieve 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut without requiring a light-reducing color filter.
That means the projector can maintain its enormous light output while reproducing the rich, saturated colors expected from a reference cinema system.
X1 Ultimate for Projector
At the heart of the GTZ380 is Sony's X1 Ultimate for projector processor.
Adapted from Sony's BRAVIA video-processing technology specifically for projection, it analyzes individual objects within the image in real time to optimize detail, texture, color, contrast, and HDR reproduction.
Sony's Dynamic HDR Enhancer processes HDR content scene by scene, taking advantage of the projector's laser light output and SXRD contrast capabilities to create a more convincing HDR image.
The GTZ380 supports both HDR10 and HLG.
ARC-F All-Glass Lens
A projector at this level needs optics capable of resolving everything produced by its native 4K panels.
Sony equips the GTZ380 with its ARC-F — All-Range Crisp Focus — lens, featuring an 18-element all-glass optical design engineered for sharpness from the center of the image all the way to the corners.
The lens provides a 2.06x motorized zoom along with extensive vertical and horizontal lens shift, giving us considerable flexibility when integrating the projector into a properly designed private cinema.
Picture Position Memory can store settings for up to five screen formats.
Built for Large Private Cinemas
The GTZ380 really begins to make sense when the room and screen become substantial.
Its combination of native 4K resolution, high light output, reference optics, wide color gamut, and sophisticated processing makes it an exceptional foundation for a large-format private theater.
It's also IMAX Enhanced compatible, making it particularly well suited to the kind of immersive, large-screen experience these rooms are designed to deliver.
Long-Life Laser Light Source
Sony's Z-Phosphor laser light source provides up to 20,000 hours of operation without the routine lamp replacements associated with traditional projector designs.
For a dedicated cinema, that means consistent performance with dramatically less maintenance.
