Overview

Sony BRAVIA Projector 9 4K HDR Laser Projector

The Sony BRAVIA Projector 9 brings Sony's latest native 4K projection technology and BRAVIA XR processing into a premium laser projector designed for serious home theaters and private cinemas.

With up to 3,400 lumens of brightness, a newly developed Native 4K SXRD panel, Wide Dynamic Range Optics, and Sony's XR Processor for projector, the BRAVIA Projector 9 is designed to deliver the combination we're looking for in a high-performance theater: excellent black levels, strong HDR performance, accurate color, fine detail, and enough light output for larger screens.

This is where Sony's decades of experience in professional cinema, projection, and video processing come together for the home.

True Native 4K SXRD

At the heart of the BRAVIA Projector 9 is Sony's Native 4K SXRD display technology.

Rather than relying on pixel shifting to create a 4K image, Sony's SXRD panel natively displays the resolution required for true 4K reproduction.

On a large projection screen, that translates into extremely fine detail, smooth edges, and a more natural image—particularly with high-quality 4K movies and streaming content.

Up to 3,400 Lumens

The BRAVIA Projector 9 produces up to 3,400 lumens of brightness from its laser light source.

That additional output gives us much more flexibility when designing a theater around a larger screen while still maintaining the brightness needed for convincing HDR.

Sony combines the laser light source with its Wide Dynamic Range Optics, helping the projector deliver both strong brightness and the contrast necessary for a cinematic image.

XR Dynamic Range Tone Mapping

HDR can be one of the biggest challenges with projection.

Sony addresses this with XR Dynamic Range Tone Mapping, which analyzes peak brightness on a frame-by-frame basis and adjusts tone mapping accordingly.

Rather than applying the same HDR treatment to an entire movie, the projector continually adapts to what's happening on screen.

The goal is better highlight detail, richer gradation, stronger brightness, and more convincing color without simply crushing the darker portions of the image.

XR Deep Black

Great projection isn't just about brightness.

XR Deep Black controls the laser output during darker scenes to produce deeper blacks while maintaining tonal and color information.

That becomes especially important in a properly designed theater with good light control, dark surfaces, and the right projection screen.

When the room is designed correctly, better black levels create greater image depth and make bright highlights appear even more dramatic.

XR Clear Image

Sony's XR Clear Image analyzes individual objects within each frame to improve texture and fine detail while reducing visible noise.

This is particularly useful because not everything we watch is pristine 4K content.

Streaming services, broadcast television, older movies, and compressed video can all benefit from good processing, and this is an area where Sony has a tremendous amount of experience.

Designed for Serious Home Cinema

The BRAVIA Projector 9 sits in a sweet spot for high-end private cinema.

It has substantially more light output than a conventional home theater projector while still being designed around the black level, color accuracy, HDR processing, and image quality expected from a premium dedicated theater.

That makes it an excellent option for larger screens and more ambitious cinema rooms where image quality is the priority.
