Overview
Sony BRAVIA Projector 8 Native 4K HDR Laser Projector
The Sony BRAVIA Projector 8 is built for serious home theaters where black level, HDR performance, color, and true 4K detail matter just as much as brightness.
With up to 2,700 lumens of laser brightness, Sony's Native 4K SXRD imaging technology, Wide Dynamic Range Optics, and the latest XR Processor for Projector, the BRAVIA Projector 8 delivers the kind of cinematic image we want from a dedicated theater.
It combines Sony's experience in professional cinema, projection, and BRAVIA video processing in a projector designed specifically for high-performance home cinema.
True Native 4K SXRD
The BRAVIA Projector 8 uses Sony's Native 4K SXRD panel to produce full 4K resolution directly at the imaging device.
There's no need to rely on pixel shifting to create the 4K image.
That native resolution becomes increasingly important as screen size increases, delivering extremely fine detail, smooth edges, and the natural film-like presentation Sony's SXRD projectors are known for.
Up to 2,700 Lumens
Sony combines its newly developed Native 4K SXRD panel with Wide Dynamic Range Optics and a laser light source producing up to 2,700 lumens.
That gives the Projector 8 enough output for larger home cinema screens while maintaining the contrast and black-level performance that make a projected image feel cinematic.
More importantly, the additional light gives HDR content room to breathe.
XR Processor for Projector
A major part of what separates the BRAVIA Projector 8 from Sony's previous generation is the XR Processor for Projector.
Sony applies its advanced BRAVIA image-processing technology specifically to projection, analyzing what's happening within the image and optimizing contrast, detail, texture, and HDR reproduction in real time.
It's especially valuable because the quality of what we watch varies tremendously—from pristine 4K movies to streaming content, television, and older material.
XR Dynamic Range Tone Mapping
HDR is one of the most difficult things for any projector to reproduce correctly.
Sony's XR Dynamic Range Tone Mapping analyzes peak brightness frame by frame and adjusts the image accordingly.
Instead of applying one fixed HDR curve to an entire movie, the projector continually responds to the content on screen.
The result is better gradation, stronger highlights, and more brilliant color while preserving information in both bright and dark areas of the image.
XR Deep Black
A great theater image isn't just about producing more light.
XR Deep Black dynamically controls laser dimming during darker scenes, producing deeper blacks while maintaining tonal and color information.
In a properly designed, light-controlled theater, this can make a huge difference.
Deep blacks give the image depth and dimension—and make bright highlights appear even brighter by comparison.
XR Clear Image
Sony's XR Clear Image analyzes individual objects frame by frame, enhancing texture and fine detail while minimizing noise.
That's important in the real world because not everything we watch is reference-quality 4K.
Good video processing can make streaming content, television, older movies, and compressed sources look dramatically better on a large projection screen.
Pro Cinematic HDR
The BRAVIA Projector 8 brings these technologies together under Sony's Pro Cinematic HDR approach.
Rather than chasing brightness alone, the projector balances brightness, black level, color, detail, and HDR processing to create a more convincing cinematic image.
For us, that's what matters.
The goal isn't simply to make a projector look impressive on a specification sheet. It's to make a movie look right when the lights go down.
