The Sonus faber Lumina V Amator takes an already accomplished floorstanding loudspeaker and gives it something special: a refined crossover inspired by the company's prestigious Homage collection, striking high-gloss wood finishes, and the unmistakable character of Italian craftsmanship.

Handsome without being imposing, the Lumina V Amator pairs a slender cabinet with a serious three-way driver configuration. A 29 mm Damped Apex Dome (D.A.D.) tweeter, dedicated 150 mm midrange, and dual 165 mm woofers work together to deliver an expansive presentation with natural vocals, convincing instrumental body, and substantial bass.

But the Amator is more than a visual upgrade. Sonus faber revisited its crossover design using solutions informed by the development of the Amati G5 and Guarneri G5. The revised network raises the midrange-to-tweeter crossover from 2,600 Hz on the standard Lumina V to 2,850 Hz, refining how the drivers work together through a critical part of the musical spectrum.

Made in Vicenza, Italy, and finished in high-gloss wood with black leather, the Lumina V Amator brings together the things that make Sonus faber distinctive: engineering, artistry, and a love of music.

 

What Makes the Amator Different?

The word Amator has a special place in Sonus faber's history. It identifies distinctive versions of the company's loudspeakers, often incorporating carefully considered changes to their design and performance.

For the Lumina V Amator, the most important engineering update is the crossover.

Drawing on development work from the Homage collection, Sonus faber refined the network using its Hybrid IFF-Paracross approach, with particular attention to amplitude and phase behavior.

The midrange-to-tweeter crossover moves from 2,600 Hz to 2,850 Hz—a 250 Hz increase. This changes how the midrange and tweeter share their responsibilities and is intended to improve resolution and the coherence of the soundstage.

The driver complement and basic cabinet dimensions remain the same as the standard Lumina V, making the crossover and distinctive finishes the defining differences rather than a wholesale redesign of the speaker.

Italian Craftsmanship You Can See

The Lumina V Amator is manufactured at Sonus faber's factory in Vicenza, Italy, and its finish makes that heritage immediately apparent.

High-gloss multilayer wood front panels feature grain oriented at 45 degrees, introducing a striking diagonal pattern that gives the otherwise clean, squared cabinet a distinctive personality.

Black leather complements the wood and creates a visual connection to Sonus faber's more elaborate loudspeaker collections.

Choose from three finishes:

• Red High Gloss: Bold and expressive, with a dramatic lacquered appearance.

• Wenge High Gloss: Dark, rich wood tones for a more understated aesthetic.

• Walnut High Gloss: Warm, natural character with a traditional furniture-inspired look.

Each finish turns the Lumina V Amator into something more than a piece of audio equipment. It becomes a considered part of the room.

Designed for Real Listening Rooms

At approximately 41.3 inches tall and 11 inches wide, the Lumina V Amator offers the presence of a full-size floorstanding speaker without an excessively wide cabinet.

Its vented-box design and dual woofers provide meaningful low-frequency capability, while the dedicated midrange and tweeter handle the details that give music its character.

The speaker is equally relevant to a carefully assembled two-channel system or a premium home theater where a matching center speaker and subwoofer can complete the front soundstage.

With 89 dB sensitivity, a nominal 4-ohm impedance, and a recommended amplifier range of 50–300 watts, amplifier selection deserves attention. A capable amplifier that is comfortable driving a 4-ohm load will help the system perform as intended.

The rear connection panel includes separate terminals for the mid/high-frequency and low-frequency sections, allowing conventional single wiring or compatible bi-wiring arrangements. Iron spikes are supplied for floor coupling.
