The Sonus faber Lumina II Amator proves that a compact loudspeaker can still make a remarkable impression.

Building on the original Lumina II, the Amator introduces a redesigned crossover inspired by Sonus faber's prestigious Homage collection, along with striking high-gloss wood finishes and the unmistakable elegance of Italian craftsmanship.

Behind its beautifully finished front panel, a 29 mm Damped Apex Dome (D.A.D.) tweeter and 150 mm midwoofer work together in a two-way, vented-box design. The result is a compact speaker engineered to deliver articulate vocals, natural instrumental textures, and a convincing sense of space.

Made in Vicenza, Italy, the Lumina II Amator combines high-gloss wood veneers, distinctive 45-degree grain orientation, and black leather in a cabinet measuring just 12 inches tall.

It is a loudspeaker for listeners who appreciate the details—in the music and in the object that reproduces it.

The Amator Difference: More Than a Beautiful Finish

The Amator designation has long been associated with special models in Sonus faber's history. For the Lumina II Amator, the distinction begins inside the cabinet.

Sonus faber revisited the crossover using engineering knowledge developed for the Amati G5 and Guarneri G5 from its Homage collection.

The crossover frequency moves from 1,800 Hz in the original Lumina II to 2,600 Hz in the Amator, changing how the midwoofer and tweeter share the musical spectrum.

The revised network is designed to optimize amplitude and phase behavior, supporting improved driver integration and a more coherent presentation of the soundstage.

This isn't simply a Lumina II dressed in a different finish. It is a carefully revised version of the original design, with acoustic changes intended to make the listening experience more engaging.

The Lumina II Amator's front panel features multilayer wood finished in a rich, high-gloss lacquer. Its veneer grain runs at a 45-degree angle, giving the compact cabinet a distinctive visual character.

Black leather complements each finish, creating the combination of natural materials and understated luxury associated with Sonus faber.

Choose the expressive presence of Red High Gloss, the darker character of Wenge, or the warmth of Walnut.

All three finishes are manufactured in Italy and share the same acoustic design.

Compact Enough for the Room. Serious Enough for the System.

The Lumina II Amator is a natural fit for a dedicated two-channel system in a smaller listening room, office, or thoughtfully designed living space.

Its compact proportions make it suitable for placement on appropriate speaker stands or sturdy furniture, while its front-facing reflex port provides some flexibility when positioning the speaker near a rear wall. As with any high-fidelity loudspeaker, final placement should be adjusted for the room and listening position.

The speaker also makes an attractive choice for a premium home theater. Use a pair as the front left and right channels in a compact system, or incorporate them as surrounds alongside other suitable Sonus faber loudspeakers.

For amplifier matching, the Lumina II Amator has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, sensitivity of 86 dB, and a recommended amplifier power range of 30–150 watts. An amplifier capable of comfortably driving a 4-ohm speaker is an important part of the system.

The rear panel includes four binding posts, providing separate high-frequency and mid/low-frequency connections for compatible wiring configurations.
