Overview
A Legend Reborn. Italian Craftsmanship at Its Finest.
Some loudspeakers are designed to follow trends. Others are built to transcend them.
The Sonus faber Electa Amator III celebrates the Italian manufacturer's 35th anniversary by reimagining one of its most recognizable loudspeakers. Inspired by the original Electa Amator of 1987 and its 1997 successor, this third-generation design brings together timeless materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and modern acoustic engineering.
Its solid-walnut cabinet, genuine black leather, Carrara marble, and brass detailing create a loudspeaker that looks more like a finely crafted musical instrument than a conventional audio component.
Behind that unmistakable appearance is a sophisticated two-way acoustic system featuring a 28 mm Damped Apex Dome tweeter and a dedicated 180 mm midwoofer.
Electa Amator III is a celebration of everything that makes high-end two-channel listening special: beautiful design, thoughtful engineering, and a deep appreciation for music.
A Heritage Worth Celebrating
Electa Amator III represents the continuation of a design legacy spanning more than three decades.
The original Electa Amator helped establish Sonus faber's international reputation, demonstrating how natural materials, traditional craftsmanship, and carefully developed acoustics could come together in a compact loudspeaker.
The third generation preserves that philosophy while introducing updated drivers and a refined enclosure.
Its solid-walnut construction is complemented by a black leather front baffle, brass detailing, and a Carrara marble base.
Every material has been selected to create a distinctive aesthetic while contributing to the loudspeaker's carefully engineered structure.
Two Drivers. One Natural Musical Presentation.
Electa Amator III uses a classic two-way architecture, pairing a dedicated tweeter with a substantial midwoofer.
This approach allows the two drivers to work together across the musical spectrum, creating a cohesive presentation without the complexity of a larger multi-driver arrangement.
28 mm Damped Apex Dome Tweeter
The H28 XTR-04 tweeter features Sonus faber's Damped Apex Dome (D.A.D.) technology.
Its 28 mm soft dome is designed to reproduce high frequencies with clarity and extension while controlling unwanted dome behavior.
The tweeter also incorporates a dedicated solid-wood rear acoustic chamber, visible through the innovative rear reflex-port arrangement.
This thoughtful engineering reflects Sonus faber's attention to the smallest details of high-frequency reproduction.
180 mm Cellulose-Pulp Midwoofer
The MW18XTR-04 midwoofer was specifically developed for Electa Amator III.
Its 180 mm cellulose-pulp cone continues Sonus faber's longstanding use of natural materials in loudspeaker diaphragms.
The driver handles both the critical midrange and low frequencies, providing the foundation for the loudspeaker's two-way design.
With a manufacturer-specified frequency response of 40 Hz to 35 kHz, Electa Amator III delivers substantial bandwidth from its compact standmount enclosure.
A Cabinet Crafted from Solid Walnut
Unlike conventional loudspeakers that rely primarily on veneered composite panels, Electa Amator III makes solid walnut a defining part of its construction.
The natural wood gives the speaker its distinctive appearance, while its carefully engineered enclosure supports the acoustic performance of the drivers.
The vented cabinet incorporates an innovative reflex-port arrangement that also reveals the solid-wood rear chamber of the tweeter.
Black leather, brass accents, and a Carrara marble base complete a design that celebrates the materials traditionally associated with fine Italian craftsmanship.
A Finish That Defines the Heritage Collection
Solid Walnut / Carrara Marble
A semi-gloss solid-walnut cabinet showcases the natural beauty of the wood grain. Black leather, brass accents, and a white Carrara marble base complete the design.
The combination gives Electa Amator III its unmistakable Heritage Collection appearance.
Available finish: Solid Walnut with Carrara Marble, Black Leather, and Brass.
Sonus faber's published product information lists this single finish configuration. There are no additional standard wood or color variants identified in the manufacturer documentation reviewed.
Dedicated Carrara Stands
Electa Amator III can be paired with a dedicated stand designed to complement both its appearance and proportions.
The optional Carrara Stand combines aluminum, brass, Carrara marble, and iron spikes in a purpose-built support system.
Its black structure and marble base coordinate with the speaker's materials, creating an elegant, unified presentation.
Important: The dedicated stands are sold separately and are not included with the loudspeakers.
