Overview

Rotel RC-1572MKII Stereo Preamplifier

The Rotel RC-1572MKII Stereo Preamplifier is a high-performance control center for a separates-based HiFi system, combining a low-noise analog preamplifier with a Texas Instruments 32-bit/384 kHz DAC, balanced XLR connectivity, Moving Magnet phono stage, PC-USB, optical and coaxial digital inputs, Bluetooth, subwoofer outputs, and extensive system-control capability. Rotel

Built around a Rotel-designed toroidal transformer and custom slit-foil capacitors, the RC-1572MKII is designed to preserve low-level detail and dynamic range before passing the signal to an external power amplifier. With both balanced XLR and RCA inputs and outputs, it is an excellent foundation for building a higher-performance Rotel separates system. Rotel

Low-Noise Rotel Power Supply

The RC-1572MKII uses a highly regulated power supply centered on a custom Rotel toroidal transformer. Its low-impedance supply incorporates custom slit-foil capacitors and is engineered to reduce stray radiated emissions around sensitive audio circuitry. Rotel

Rotel also uses symmetrical PCB traces, metal-film resistors, and polystyrene or polypropylene capacitors at critical points in the signal path, reflecting the RC-1572MKII's focus on low noise and signal integrity. Rotel

Texas Instruments 32-Bit/384 kHz DAC

A premium Texas Instruments 32-bit/384 kHz DAC handles digital conversion, supported by Rotel's custom-tuned output filtering. Rotel

The asynchronous PC-USB input supports USB Audio Class 2.0 up to 32-bit/384 kHz, while USB Audio Class 1.0 supports up to 24-bit/96 kHz. Optical and coaxial S/PDIF inputs accept LPCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz. The RC-1572MKII also supports MQA and MQA Studio up to 24-bit/384 kHz via PC-USB and is Roon Tested. Rotel

Balanced XLR Analog Architecture

The RC-1572MKII provides balanced XLR inputs and outputs alongside conventional RCA connections, giving owners flexibility when pairing the preamplifier with premium source components and power amplifiers.

Rotel specifies an exceptionally broad 10 Hz–100 kHz (+0/-0.2 dB) frequency response for both its RCA and XLR line-level inputs, with a 118 dB signal-to-noise ratio. Rotel

Moving Magnet Phono Stage

A dedicated Moving Magnet phono input allows a compatible turntable to connect directly to the RC-1572MKII without an external phono preamplifier.

The MM stage provides 3 mV sensitivity, 47kΩ input impedance and 63 mV overload capability, with a frequency response of 20 Hz–20 kHz (+0.3/-0.2 dB). Rotel

Bluetooth & Multi-Source Flexibility

Wireless playback is supported through aptX and AAC Bluetooth, complementing the RC-1572MKII's extensive wired analog and digital connectivity. Rotel also lists a Bluetooth 5.1 aptX HD module among the model's current resources. Rotel

The result is a preamplifier capable of handling vinyl, CD players, external streamers, DACs, computers, televisions with compatible digital audio output, and wireless sources within one two-channel system.

RCA, XLR & Subwoofer Outputs

Both RCA and balanced XLR preamplifier outputs are provided, allowing the RC-1572MKII to be paired with a wide range of stereo and monoblock power amplifiers. Rotel specifies output levels of 1V RCA and 2V XLR. Rotel

Dedicated subwoofer outputs further simplify adding powered subwoofers to a two-channel system. Rotel

Custom Integration & Control

For professionally integrated systems, the RC-1572MKII provides Ethernet and RS232 control, along with additional system-control functionality. Rotel currently provides a dedicated Control4 Serial/IP driver for the RC-1572MKII. Rotel

Automatic power controls, signal sensing, fixed-volume settings, tone adjustment, a front-panel display, and supplied remote control provide additional configuration flexibility. Rotel
