Overview
Rotel A12MKII Integrated Amplifier
The Rotel A12MKII Integrated Amplifier combines 60 watts per channel of Class AB amplification with a premium Texas Instruments 32-bit/384 kHz DAC, Moving Magnet phono stage, PC-USB, coaxial and optical digital inputs, wireless aptX Bluetooth, and Roon Tested compatibility. Its combination of analog and high-resolution digital connectivity makes the A12MKII a versatile centerpiece for a modern two-channel HiFi system. Rotel
Power comes from an oversized, in-house manufactured Rotel toroidal transformer, supporting 60 watts per channel continuously into 8 ohms and up to 120 watts per channel into 4 ohms. Rotel's current U.S. product page also specifies an FTC output rating of 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Rotel
Class AB Amplification
The A12MKII uses Rotel's traditional Class AB amplifier architecture, with the power supply engineered around the company's own toroidal transformer. The design delivers low distortion and substantial current capability without moving to a switching-amplifier topology.
Total harmonic distortion is rated at less than 0.018%, intermodulation distortion at less than 0.03%, and damping factor at 220, giving the A12MKII solid control over compatible bookshelf and floorstanding loudspeakers. Rotel
Texas Instruments 32-Bit/384 kHz DAC
The A12MKII's digital section uses a premium Texas Instruments 32-bit DAC and provides several ways to connect digital music sources. Rotel
PC-USB supports USB Audio Class 2.0 up to 32-bit/384 kHz, while coaxial and optical S/PDIF inputs accept LPCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz. The amplifier is also Roon Tested, making it suitable for integration with a Roon-based digital music system. Rotel
Moving Magnet Phono Stage
A built-in Moving Magnet phono stage allows a compatible turntable to connect directly to the A12MKII.
The phono input provides 3.4 mV sensitivity, 47kΩ input impedance, 50 mV overload capability, and frequency response from 20 Hz–20 kHz ±0.5 dB. Rotel
Extensive Analog & Digital Connectivity
The A12MKII provides four RCA analog inputs, along with its dedicated MM phono input. Digital sources are accommodated through coaxial, optical, and PC-USB connections, while wireless aptX Bluetooth provides convenient playback from compatible mobile devices. Rotel
A preamp output also provides flexibility for adding external amplification or integrating the A12MKII into a more complex audio system.
Home Theater Bypass
Later-production A12MKII units support a Home Theater Bypass function, allowing the amplifier to be incorporated into a combined two-channel and home theater system while a surround processor or AVR controls volume for the designated input.
Rotel specifies that this feature applies beginning with serial number 273-144-1001 for Black units and 773-144-1001 for Silver units. Rotel
System Integration
For custom installations, the A12MKII provides RS232, 12V trigger, Rotel Link, and external remote connections, allowing it to integrate beyond a basic standalone stereo system. Rotel
It is available in Black or Silver, maintaining Rotel's understated full-width component design.
