The Revel PerformaBe F228Be is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker built around a 1-inch pure beryllium tweeter, a dedicated 5.25-inch midrange driver, and dual 8-inch Deep Ceramic Composite (DCC) woofers. Developed from Revel's acclaimed Performa3 F208, the F228Be features redesigned drivers, an advanced crossover network, and a fifth-generation Acoustic Lens waveguide to deliver exceptional clarity, controlled bass, and a spacious, precisely defined soundstage.

With a sensitivity of 90dB, an 8-ohm nominal impedance, and a recommended amplifier power range of 50–350 watts, the F228Be offers considerable flexibility when paired with high-performance integrated amplifiers or separate preamplifier and power amplifier combinations. Its substantial low-frequency capability makes it equally suited to dedicated two-channel listening rooms and premium home theater systems.

Pure Beryllium Tweeter with Acoustic Lens Waveguide

The F228Be's 1-inch pure beryllium dome tweeter is powered by an 85mm dual ceramic magnet motor system. Beryllium's exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio allows the diaphragm to reproduce high frequencies with minimal breakup, while its inherent damping helps control unwanted resonances.

Revel integrates the tweeter with a fifth-generation, ceramic-coated cast-aluminum Acoustic Lens waveguide. Engineered to match the tweeter's dispersion characteristics to those of the midrange driver, the waveguide helps maintain consistent tonal balance both on and off axis.

This combination provides the extended high-frequency response, precise imaging, and wide listening area that distinguish the PerformaBe series.

Deep Ceramic Composite Midrange and Dual 8-Inch Woofers

A dedicated 5.25-inch DCC aluminum-cone midrange driver handles the frequencies most critical to vocals and acoustic instruments. Its enlarged diaphragm, larger voice coil, and ceramic motor structure are designed to improve efficiency, increase power handling, and reduce dynamic compression.

Two 8-inch DCC aluminum-cone woofers provide the F228Be with the radiating area needed for deep bass reproduction and substantial dynamic output. The Deep Ceramic Composite process increases diaphragm stiffness and damping, helping the drivers maintain controlled movement while minimizing unwanted resonances.

By assigning bass, midrange, and treble reproduction to dedicated drivers, the F228Be can reproduce complex musical passages with clarity and separation, even at demanding listening levels.

High-Order Crossover and Driver Integration

Revel's high-order crossover network incorporates film capacitors and air-core inductors in the midrange and tweeter circuits. With crossover frequencies of 260Hz and 2.1kHz, the network is designed to integrate all four drivers while maintaining consistent frequency response and controlled dispersion.

The crossover works in conjunction with the Acoustic Lens waveguide to produce smooth transitions between drivers, preserving tonal accuracy and stereo imaging across the listening area.

Premium Cabinet Design and Finishes

The F228Be combines its advanced driver technology with an elegantly proportioned floorstanding cabinet. Its refined enclosure, magnetically attached grille, and metallic-black top panel with raised electroform badging give the speaker a distinctive appearance without distracting from its acoustic purpose.
