The Ortofon MC Verismo is a high-end stereo moving coil cartridge from Ortofon’s Exclusives Series, engineered for precise groove tracking, low distortion, and exceptional retrieval of musical detail.

Its defining feature is a solid diamond cantilever paired with a specially polished Nude Replicant 100 stylus. The rigid, low-mass assembly is designed to transmit even the smallest groove movements accurately to the cartridge generator.

The MC Verismo also features Aucurum coil wire, a compact neodymium magnet system, and a titanium body manufactured using Selective Laser Melting (SLM). Together, these technologies provide a mechanically stable foundation for detailed, dynamic vinyl reproduction.

Diamond Cantilever & Replicant 100 Stylus

The MC Verismo combines two precision components at the point where the cartridge meets the record.

The specially polished Replicant 100 stylus features a narrow, extended contact profile designed to follow the groove accurately. Its solid diamond cantilever provides a highly rigid connection to the generator, helping preserve fine musical information and transient detail.

Selective Laser Melted Titanium Body

Ortofon manufactures the Verismo’s titanium housing using Selective Laser Melting, which fuses fine titanium particles layer by layer.

This process allows precise control over the cartridge body's structure and density, creating a rigid housing with high internal damping. Three defined contact points on its upper surface provide consistent mechanical coupling to the tonearm.

Compatibility & Installation

The MC Verismo uses standard ½-inch mounting and weighs 9.5 grams. Its 13 µm/mN dynamic compliance makes tonearm matching an important part of system setup.

With a low output of 0.2 mV, the cartridge requires a suitable moving coil phono stage or a properly matched step-up transformer and phono preamplifier.

Ortofon recommends a tracking force of 2.6 grams and a load impedance greater than 10 ohms.
