The Ortofon MC Quintet Black S is the flagship of the Quintet Series, combining a Nude Shibata diamond stylus with a high-performance sapphire cantilever. Its finely polished 6/50 µm stylus profile provides an extended contact area with the record groove, allowing it to retrieve delicate musical information, including fine high-frequency detail.
The Black S features Ortofon's Aucurum coil wire, a neodymium magnet system, and a rigid, scratch-resistant cartridge body. With 80 µm tracking ability, a 0.3 mV output, and low internal impedance, it is engineered for precise vinyl reproduction when paired with a compatible moving coil phono stage.

What Makes the Quintet Black S Different?
The Black S introduces two important changes over the Quintet Bronze: a Nude Shibata stylus in place of the Nude Fine Line design and a sapphire cantilever. It also uses Aucurum coil wire rather than the Bronze's high-purity copper coils.

Compatibility & Installation
The MC Quintet Black S uses standard ½-inch mounting with threaded holes. Ortofon supplies 5 mm and 7 mm screws to accommodate different headshell thicknesses.
Its 0.3 mV output requires a compatible moving coil phono stage or an appropriately matched step-up transformer and phono preamplifier. Ortofon recommends a load impedance greater than 20 ohms and a tracking force of 2.3 grams.
