Ortofon 2M Mono Moving Magnet Phono Cartridge
Nude Spherical stylus. True mono playback. Designed for mono vinyl LPs.
The Ortofon 2M Mono is a dedicated moving magnet cartridge engineered for mono microgroove vinyl records. Its Nude Spherical diamond stylus features an 18 µm radius, designed to trace mono LP grooves accurately and retrieve musical detail while minimizing unwanted noise.
A strapped mono output delivers the same signal through both sets of output pins, allowing the cartridge to work with conventional stereo HiFi systems without requiring a dedicated mono amplifier.

These cartridges serve different record formats. The 2M Mono is designed for mono microgroove vinyl LPs, while the 2M 78 uses a substantially larger stylus for vintage shellac records.

Important: The 2M Mono is not a substitute for the 2M 78 when playing wide-groove shellac records.
Compatibility & Installation
The standard 2M Mono uses ½-inch mounting and connects to a compatible moving magnet phono stage. Its strapped output makes mono playback possible through a conventional stereo system.
Ortofon also offers the 2M Mono Premounted with an SH-4 headshell for compatible S-shaped tonearms and the 2M Mono Verso for bottom-mount headshells. These are separate mounting configurations.
