The DALI OPTICON 6 MK2 is a high-performance Danish floorstanding loudspeaker designed to deliver detailed, natural sound with the scale and dynamics of a full-size stereo system. Combining two 6½-inch wood-fibre drivers with DALI's signature hybrid tweeter module, it offers precise bass, articulate midrange reproduction and extended high-frequency detail in an elegant, relatively slim cabinet.

Built and tested in Denmark, the OPTICON 6 MK2 incorporates DALI's patented Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) technology, a 2½ + ½-way crossover and a dual-flare bass reflex system. Its combination of driver technology and wide dispersion makes it suitable for dedicated two-channel listening rooms, premium living-room audio systems and high-performance home theaters.

Dual 6½-Inch Wood-Fibre Drivers

The OPTICON 6 MK2 features two 6½-inch bass/midrange drivers constructed from DALI's proprietary fine paper-pulp and wood-fibre composite material. Their lightweight, rigid diaphragms are designed to minimize unwanted resonances while preserving the subtle details of musical recordings.

The drivers operate across different frequency ranges through the speaker's 2½ + ½-way crossover, allowing the system to deliver substantial bass output while maintaining clarity through the critical midrange.

This arrangement gives the OPTICON 6 MK2 the ability to reproduce demanding musical passages with control, from deep bass lines and percussion to vocals and acoustic instruments.

Patented DALI SMC Technology

DALI's Soft Magnetic Compound technology plays a central role in the OPTICON 6 MK2's low-distortion design.

Its driver motor system incorporates an SMC pole piece to reduce magnetic hysteresis and eddy currents, helping minimize unwanted distortion. This approach supports accurate reproduction of low-level musical information and maintains clarity during complex passages.

Combined with the wood-fibre diaphragms and low-loss suspension components, SMC technology contributes to the speaker's detailed midrange presentation and controlled low-frequency performance.

DALI Hybrid Tweeter Module

The OPTICON 6 MK2 features DALI's hybrid tweeter module, combining a 29mm soft-dome tweeter with a 17 × 45mm planar high-frequency driver.

Both elements are mounted on a rigid cast-aluminum faceplate designed to provide mechanical stability and control dispersion. The soft dome reproduces the primary treble range, while the planar element extends the speaker's upper-frequency performance.

The hybrid configuration is engineered to maintain consistent high-frequency detail across a wide listening area, helping the OPTICON 6 MK2 produce a spacious soundstage without restricting listeners to a single narrow seating position.

Dual-Flare Bass Reflex System

DALI equips the OPTICON 6 MK2 with a dual-flare bass reflex system engineered to improve airflow and reduce turbulence at the port openings.

The port geometry works with the two 6½-inch drivers to provide controlled low-frequency output, supporting the speaker's published frequency response of 49Hz to 30kHz.

The combination of bass reflex loading, dedicated crossover frequencies and low-distortion drivers allows the OPTICON 6 MK2 to balance bass authority with the speed and articulation required for critical music listening.

Danish Cabinet Construction

The OPTICON 6 MK2 is manufactured and tested at DALI's production facilities in central Denmark.

Its cabinet features a substantial 25mm front baffle and additional internal bracing to minimize unwanted panel resonance and provide a rigid foundation for the drivers.

From cabinet fabrication to driver installation and crossover assembly, DALI oversees the manufacturing process to maintain consistent construction and acoustic performance.

High-Performance Stereo and Home Theater

With 88dB sensitivity, a 4-ohm nominal impedance and a recommended amplifier power range of 25–200 watts, the OPTICON 6 MK2 is designed to partner with capable integrated amplifiers, stereo power amplifiers and premium home theater electronics.

Its dual-driver configuration and hybrid tweeter provide the dynamic capability and detailed presentation needed for both music and movie soundtracks. For dedicated home theaters, the OPTICON 6 MK2 can serve as the front left and right speakers alongside matching OPTICON MK2 center and surround models.

The speaker also supports bi-wiring and bi-amplification, providing additional flexibility when designing a high-performance audio system.
