DALI OPTICON 2 MK2 – High-Performance Bookshelf Speakers (each)

Product Description

The DALI OPTICON 2 MK2 is a high-performance bookshelf speaker that combines Danish craftsmanship with advanced driver technology in a versatile stand-mount design. Featuring a 6½-inch wood-fibre bass/midrange driver, DALI's patented Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) magnet system and a 29mm soft-dome tweeter, it delivers detailed, natural sound with impressive bass performance for its size.

Designed for small to medium-sized listening rooms, the OPTICON 2 MK2 is equally suited to a dedicated two-channel HiFi system or a premium home theater. Its two-way configuration, aerodynamic bass reflex port and rigid cabinet work together to reproduce music with clarity, controlled dynamics and precise stereo imaging. Each speaker is assembled and tested in Denmark.

6½-Inch Wood-Fibre Driver with SMC Technology

The OPTICON 2 MK2 features a 6½-inch bass/midrange driver built around DALI's signature paper-pulp and wood-fibre cone. The lightweight diaphragm is engineered to minimize unwanted resonances while maintaining the responsiveness needed to reproduce subtle musical details.

The driver's magnetic system incorporates DALI's patented SMC technology, using a pole piece manufactured entirely from Soft Magnetic Compound material. This construction reduces magnetic hysteresis and eddy currents, helping minimize distortion, particularly third-order distortion.

Together, the wood-fibre cone and SMC motor system provide articulate midrange reproduction and precise, controlled bass, allowing the OPTICON 2 MK2 to reproduce vocals, acoustic instruments and complex recordings with clarity.

Newly Developed 29mm Soft-Dome Tweeter

The OPTICON 2 MK2 incorporates a lightweight 29mm soft-dome tweeter derived from DALI's CALLISTO C series.

Compared with the 28mm tweeter used in the original OPTICON series, the revised design provides improved power handling, reduced distortion and extended low-frequency capability. Its wide-dispersion characteristics help create a spacious soundstage while maintaining consistent high-frequency reproduction across a broad listening area.

The tweeter is also used throughout the OPTICON MK2 range, providing consistent tonal characteristics when combining models in a multichannel home theater system.

Unlike the larger OPTICON 6 MK2 and OPTICON 8 MK2 floorstanding speakers, the OPTICON 2 MK2 uses a single soft-dome tweeter rather than DALI's hybrid tweeter module.

Dual-Flare Bass Reflex System

DALI equips the OPTICON 2 MK2 with an aerodynamic dual-flare bass reflex port designed to extend low-frequency performance and improve power handling.

The port's flared entrance and exit help minimize airflow turbulence, reducing unwanted noise during demanding bass passages. Combined with the 6½-inch wood-fibre driver, the system delivers controlled low-frequency reproduction from a relatively compact enclosure.

With a published frequency response of 59Hz to 25kHz, the OPTICON 2 MK2 offers a balance of bass extension, midrange clarity and detailed treble suitable for a wide variety of musical genres.

Danish Cabinet Construction

The OPTICON 2 MK2 is manufactured at DALI's production facilities in central Denmark, where cabinet fabrication, driver installation, crossover assembly and final testing are performed.

Its cabinet incorporates a substantial 25mm front baffle and additional internal bracing to reduce unwanted panel resonance and provide a stable foundation for the drivers.

DALI builds and tests each stereo pair using components from the same production batch, with a single technician responsible for ensuring consistent visual and acoustic matching.

Designed for High-Performance Stereo and Home Theater

With 86.5dB sensitivity, a 4-ohm nominal impedance and a recommended amplifier power range of 30–150 watts, the OPTICON 2 MK2 is designed to partner with capable integrated amplifiers, stereo power amplifiers and premium home theater electronics.

Its stand-mount configuration makes it suitable for dedicated listening rooms, living spaces and compact entertainment systems where floorstanding speakers may not be practical.

For home theater applications, the OPTICON 2 MK2 can serve as a front left and right speaker or as part of a matching OPTICON MK2 surround system. Its wide-dispersion characteristics and shared tweeter technology help maintain a consistent presentation across the listening area.
