DALI OPTICON 1 MK2 – Compact Bookshelf Speakers (each)

Product Description

The DALI OPTICON 1 MK2 is a compact, high-performance bookshelf speaker designed to bring detailed, natural sound to smaller listening spaces. Combining a 4¾-inch wood-fibre bass/midrange driver with DALI's patented Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) technology and a 29mm soft-dome tweeter, it delivers precise imaging, articulate vocals and impressive bass performance for its size.

Hand-assembled and tested in Denmark, the OPTICON 1 MK2 incorporates a rigid, internally braced cabinet and an aerodynamic dual-flare bass reflex port. Its compact dimensions make it an excellent choice for dedicated desktop audio systems, smaller stereo listening rooms and premium home theaters where space is limited but sound quality remains a priority.

4¾-Inch Wood-Fibre Driver with SMC Technology

The OPTICON 1 MK2 features a specially developed 4¾-inch bass/midrange driver constructed from DALI's signature paper-pulp and wood-fibre composite material.

The lightweight diaphragm is engineered to minimize unwanted resonances while maintaining the responsiveness needed for accurate musical reproduction. Its design prioritizes low mechanical loss, helping preserve subtle details in vocals and acoustic instruments.

The driver's magnetic motor system incorporates DALI's patented SMC technology. A large ferrite ring magnet surrounds a pole piece manufactured entirely from Soft Magnetic Compound material, reducing distortion associated with magnetic hysteresis and eddy currents.

This low-distortion approach contributes to the OPTICON 1 MK2's natural midrange presentation and precise, coherent bass reproduction.

Newly Developed 29mm Soft-Dome Tweeter

The OPTICON 1 MK2 incorporates a lightweight 29mm soft-dome tweeter derived from DALI's CALLISTO C series.

Compared with the 28mm tweeter used in the original OPTICON series, the updated design offers improved power handling, lower distortion and extended low-frequency capability.

Its wide-dispersion characteristics help produce an expansive soundstage while maintaining consistent high-frequency reproduction across a broad listening area.

The same 29mm tweeter is used throughout the OPTICON MK2 series, helping maintain consistent tonal characteristics when combining different models in a multichannel home theater system.

Dual-Flare Bass Reflex System

Despite its compact cabinet, the OPTICON 1 MK2 is engineered to deliver controlled and substantial bass performance.

DALI's dual-flare bass reflex port uses aerodynamic shaping at both the entrance and exit to reduce airflow turbulence. The design extends low-frequency response while supporting greater power handling.

Working alongside the 4¾-inch wood-fibre driver, the reflex system provides a published frequency response of 62Hz to 25kHz, making the OPTICON 1 MK2 suitable for a wide variety of music in smaller listening environments.

For listeners seeking additional low-frequency extension, the speakers can be paired with a properly integrated subwoofer.

Danish Cabinet Construction

The OPTICON 1 MK2 is manufactured at DALI's production facilities in central Denmark, where cabinet fabrication, assembly and final testing are performed.

Its enclosure incorporates a substantial 25mm front baffle and additional internal bracing to minimize unwanted panel resonance and provide a rigid foundation for the drivers.

DALI builds and tests each stereo pair using components from the same production batch, with a single technician responsible for maintaining visual and acoustic consistency between speakers.

The compact cabinet offers flexible placement on dedicated speaker stands or suitable furniture, making it particularly attractive for rooms where larger loudspeakers are impractical.

High-Performance Stereo and Home Theater

With 85dB sensitivity, a 4-ohm nominal impedance and a recommended amplifier power range of 25–100 watts, the OPTICON 1 MK2 is designed to partner with appropriately matched integrated amplifiers, stereo power amplifiers and premium home theater electronics.

Its compact two-way design makes it suitable for intimate stereo listening systems, secondary listening spaces and surround-channel applications.

For a complete home theater, the OPTICON 1 MK2 can be combined with other OPTICON MK2 loudspeakers and a subwoofer to create a cohesive multichannel system without requiring large speakers at every position.
