The Naim NVC TT is a dedicated moving magnet and moving coil phono preamplifier from Naim's New Classic 300 Series, designed to bring precision cartridge matching and high-performance analog playback to a reference stereo system. Featuring selectable MC gain, extensive cartridge-loading adjustments and a dedicated external power-supply upgrade path, it offers the flexibility to accommodate a wide range of audiophile turntables and cartridges.

Engineered to integrate with the Naim NSC 222 and NAC 332 preamplifiers, the NVC TT can receive power directly from either component or operate with the optional NPX TT dedicated power supply. Its compact, half-width aluminum chassis complements the New Classic range while providing a specialized analog front end for vinyl enthusiasts.

Moving Magnet and Moving Coil Cartridge Compatibility

The NVC TT accommodates both moving magnet and moving coil phono cartridges, allowing owners to change cartridges or upgrade their turntable without necessarily replacing their phono preamplifier.

Its moving magnet stage provides 42dB of gain with a standard 47kΩ input impedance and 100pF capacitance. For moving coil cartridges, two selectable gain settings of 61dB and 67dB accommodate different cartridge output levels.

Extensive Moving Coil Cartridge Loading

Cartridge loading is an important part of optimizing moving coil performance. The NVC TT provides 16 selectable resistive-loading values and 16 selectable capacitive-loading values, allowing its input characteristics to be adjusted to suit the connected cartridge.

Resistive loading ranges from 85Ω to 1,000Ω, with intermediate settings that include 100Ω, 115Ω, 150Ω, 215Ω, 330Ω and 600Ω. Capacitive loading ranges from 100pF to 4,600pF.

These adjustments provide the flexibility needed to accommodate different cartridge electrical characteristics and manufacturer recommendations. They are particularly useful for listeners who maintain more than one turntable or regularly experiment with moving coil cartridges.

Precision RIAA Equalization and Low-Noise Performance

The NVC TT is engineered to amplify the extremely small signals generated by a phono cartridge while applying the equalization required for accurate record playback.

Its RIAA equalization accuracy is specified within ±0.1dB. A partial IEC low-frequency cut provides additional attenuation below the audible bass range, helping control unwanted subsonic energy associated with record playback.

Naim specifies a signal-to-noise ratio of 83dB for moving magnet operation and 84dB for moving coil operation, measured under the manufacturer's stated reference conditions. Combined with THD+N below 0.005%, these specifications reflect the NVC TT's focus on preserving low-level musical information.

Designed for the Naim NAC 332 and NSC 222

The NVC TT is specifically designed to integrate with Naim's New Classic preamplifiers, including the NAC 332 and NSC 222.

Both compatible components can provide the power required by the phono stage, simplifying installation and reducing the need for an additional external power supply.

The NVC TT offers stereo RCA inputs alongside RCA, five-pin DIN and eight-pin DIN output connections, providing flexibility when integrating it into a compatible Naim or third-party audio system.

Its aluminum construction is designed to help protect sensitive electronics from external interference, while the illuminated Naim logo offers three selectable brightness settings.
