Overview

Aurender N200 Signature Music Server & Digital Transport

The Aurender N200 Signature Music Server is a high-performance digital output network transport designed for systems built around an external DAC. It combines Aurender’s cache-based playback architecture with a dedicated isolated USB Audio output, RCA coaxial S/PDIF, two user-installable 2.5-inch storage bays, a full linear power supply, double-isolated Gigabit Ethernet and a 6.9-inch color display. Aurender Music

With PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz, native DSD512 and DSD256 via DoP over USB, the N200 delivers much of Aurender’s reference music-server architecture without the more complex OCXO-controlled digital output board found in the N20 and N30SA. There is no internal DAC or analog output—the N200 is purpose-built to feed a high-performance external DAC. Aurender Music

Dedicated Isolated USB Audio Output

USB is the primary high-performance digital interface of the N200. Aurender physically and electrically isolates its dedicated USB Audio Class 2.0 output from the CPU board to reduce the transfer of computer-generated electrical noise into the connected DAC. Aurender Music

Supported USB resolution reaches:

PCM: up to 32-bit/768kHz
Native DSD: up to DSD512
DoP: up to DSD256 Aurender Music

This makes the N200 particularly well suited to modern asynchronous USB DACs capable of high-resolution PCM and DSD playback.

RCA Coaxial S/PDIF Output

In addition to USB, the N200 provides a RCA coaxial S/PDIF digital output for DACs that perform best through conventional coaxial digital input.

The coaxial output supports:

PCM: up to 32-bit/192kHz
DSD: up to DSD64 via DoP Aurender Music

Unlike the N20, the N200's coaxial output is described by Aurender as a basic S/PDIF output and is not controlled by a dedicated OCXO clock. This distinction is important when positioning the N200 within the Aurender range. Aurender Music

TCXO Precision Clocking

The N200 uses a TCXO audio word clock.

Aurender deliberately omits the more expensive OCXO-controlled digital audio board used by the N20, focusing the N200 around its dedicated USB Audio architecture. For systems using an asynchronous USB DAC, this provides a more focused approach without paying for an extensive array of synchronous digital outputs that may never be used. Aurender Music

Full Linear Power Supply

The N200 uses an audio-grade full linear power supply specified at 2 × 35W.

This is an important part of the N200's design. Rather than treating the server as a general-purpose computer with an audio output attached, Aurender engineers the power, processing, networking, storage and USB audio circuitry as a complete source component. Aurender Music

A built-in supercapacitor UPS allows the N200 to shut down safely if AC power is unexpectedly interrupted, protecting its operating system and installed storage. Aurender Music

Cache-Based Playback

The N200 uses Aurender's cache-based playback architecture rather than continuously reading music from the internal library drive during playback.

A dedicated 240GB NVMe SSD handles system and cache duties. Music is cached into solid-state memory before playback, reducing storage-drive activity and the associated computing workload while music is playing. Aurender Music

Dual User-Installable Storage Bays

Two rear-accessible 2.5-inch HDD/SSD bays allow the N200 to be configured around the owner's music library.

Aurender specifies support for up to two 8TB SSDs, allowing as much as 16TB of internal solid-state music storage. No library drives are required for listeners who primarily use streaming services. Aurender Music

This flexibility avoids forcing the buyer to purchase storage capacity they do not need while providing substantial local-library capacity for large high-resolution music collections.

Intel Quad-Core Processing & 8GB RAM

The N200 uses an Intel low-power quad-core processor with 8GB RAM.

Aurender intentionally employs efficient computing hardware with sufficient performance for streaming, library management and playback while limiting unnecessary processor activity and electrical noise inside the music server. Aurender Music

Double-Isolated Gigabit Ethernet

Network connectivity is handled through a double-isolated Gigabit Ethernet port.

Aurender uses two transformer stages in the Ethernet circuit to provide additional electrical isolation from network-borne noise without intentionally restricting network bandwidth. Aurender Music

A wired Ethernet connection is required for normal network operation and communication with the Aurender control platform.

USB 3.0 Data Connectivity

Two rear USB 3.0 data ports support external storage, file transfer and compatible external control devices.

These ports are distinct from the N200's dedicated USB Audio output and should not be used as substitutes for the isolated audio connection when connecting a DAC. Aurender Music

Aurender Conductor & Integrated Streaming

The N200 operates through Aurender Conductor, bringing streaming services, locally stored music, external USB storage and NAS libraries into a unified playback environment.

Aurender lists integrated access to TIDAL, Qobuz and Internet Radio, along with Spotify Connect and AirPlay. Aurender Music

The N200 is also Roon Ready, giving owners the option of using Roon as the playback and library interface while retaining the N200 as the dedicated network endpoint. Aurender Music

An optional MQA Core-Decoder upgrade is available. Aurender Music

Critical Listening Mode

Aurender's Critical Listening Mode disables the front-panel display, buttons and nonessential background computing processes during playback.

The objective is simple: reduce unnecessary electrical and processing activity when maximum playback performance is the priority. Aurender Music

6.9-Inch IPS Color Display

The N200's machined-aluminum front panel incorporates a 6.9-inch 1280 × 480 wide IPS color LCD.

The display presents album artwork, artist and track information, playback status and menu information, while front-panel controls provide direct access to power, display modes, play/pause and track navigation. Aurender Music

Aurender's current specifications now list the USB output at 32-bit/768kHz PCM, despite older N200 material sometimes citing 384kHz. I would use 768kHz on the Shopify page because that is Aurender's current published specification. Aurender Music

N200 vs. N20

The distinction between these two models is useful for buyers.

The N200 is optimized primarily around USB, with a dedicated isolated USB Audio output and basic RCA coaxial S/PDIF. The N20 adds OCXO clocking, AES/EBU, BNC coaxial, optical output, external master-clock input, 480GB NVMe cache and FPGA-based DSD-to-PCM conversion. Aurender Music

That means the N200 can be the more logical choice when the system uses a high-performance asynchronous USB DAC and the additional synchronous digital and external clock capabilities of the N20 aren't required.
