The Nu-Vista Vinyl 2 is built for analog systems where the phono preamplifier deserves as much attention as the turntable itself.

Musical Fidelity combines a fully balanced, discrete circuit design with a Class A Nuvistor output stage, extensive cartridge adjustment, and a substantial chassis. Eight 7586 Nuvistor tubes operate within its balanced buffer circuitry, while three gain stages and split-passive equalization handle the delicate signal arriving from a moving-magnet or moving-coil cartridge.

Four phono inputs accommodate multiple turntables or tonearm configurations. Selectable RIAA, Decca, and Columbia equalization curves extend its usefulness to collectors of records produced under different historical standards.

The Vinyl 2 is a serious analog control center, designed to give an ambitious record collection room to grow.

 

Eight Nuvistors. Fully Balanced Class A.

The Vinyl 2 incorporates eight 7586 Nuvistor tubes in its balanced buffer circuitry.

Nuvistors are miniature vacuum tubes developed in the 1950s for applications requiring low noise, reliability, and consistent performance. They have become a defining element of Musical Fidelity's Nu-Vista series.

The Vinyl 2 combines these tubes with discrete Class A circuitry and separate input and output stages. Its fully balanced architecture extends through the phono amplification circuit rather than simply adding balanced connectors to an otherwise single-ended design.

 

Three Gain Stages. Split-Passive Equalization.

A phono cartridge produces an exceptionally small electrical signal. Amplifying it accurately requires careful attention to gain, noise, overload capability, and equalization.

The Vinyl 2 uses a three-part gain architecture with discrete Class A circuitry.

Its equalization is implemented through two passive stages, an approach Musical Fidelity selected to improve impedance matching and reduce deviation from the intended equalization curve.

The design also incorporates discrete input power filtering, DC blocking circuitry, and a low-noise power transformer.

 

Four Inputs for a Complete Analog Collection

The Vinyl 2 provides four phono inputs:

• Two single-ended RCA inputs

• Two balanced XLR inputs

Each input can retain its own loading settings, making it possible to move between different cartridge configurations without repeatedly entering the same adjustments.

A dedicated moving-coil cartridge, a mono cartridge, and a second turntable can all form part of a carefully configured system.

Separate RCA and XLR output stages also allow both output types to be used simultaneously.

 

Cartridge Matching Without Compromise

The Vinyl 2 offers extensive gain and loading adjustments for moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges.

Moving-magnet gain is selectable from 40 to 49 dB, while moving-coil gain ranges from 60 to 69 dB.

MM capacitance is adjustable between 50 and 400 pF. MC input impedance can be selected from 5 ohms to 47 kilohms.

These adjustments allow the phono stage to accommodate a broad range of cartridges and give owners the flexibility to refine their analog system as their collection evolves.

 

RIAA, Decca, and Columbia Equalization

Not every record was originally produced using the modern RIAA equalization standard.

The Vinyl 2 includes three selectable curves:

• RIAA

• Decca

• Columbia

This provides additional flexibility for collectors of historical recordings and early LPs.

A switchable subsonic filter offers Mild and Standard settings. The Mild setting follows the IEC characteristic, while Standard provides filtering at 20 Hz with an 18 dB/octave slope.

 

Designed for Daily Use

The Vinyl 2 combines its extensive adjustment options with a color display and dedicated remote control.

The display presents the selected input and cartridge-loading settings, while the remote provides convenient access to the unit's controls.

The display is dimmable, allowing it to remain discreet in a dedicated listening room.

An optional connection for the Nu-Vista Uni PSU provides an additional upgrade path for owners developing a complete Nu-Vista system. The external power supply is sold separately.
