The Musical Fidelity M6xTT brings the engineering philosophy of the flagship M8xTT into a more accessible design without losing the character that makes the original concept so distinctive.

Its foundation is a dual-acrylic chassis, a substantial 6.6 kg aluminum platter, and a motor mechanically isolated from the tonearm and platter. A purpose-built 9-inch tonearm, electronically controlled belt drive, and magnetically supported feet complete a turntable designed around mechanical stability and precise vinyl playback.

The M6xTT traces its design philosophy to Musical Fidelity's original M1 turntable, combining the mass of metal alloys with the resonance-control properties of acrylic.

The result is an elegant, substantial turntable that puts its engineering to work without making the experience of playing records unnecessarily complicated.

 

Dual-Chassis Construction

Two acrylic plinths form the foundation of the M6xTT, separated by Teflon spacers and connected through four substantial aluminum feet.

The motor sits on specialized foam within the lower plinth, mechanically separating it from the tonearm and platter.

This arrangement combines the mass of the aluminum components with the damping and structural properties of acrylic to help manage unwanted resonance.

 

A 6.6 kg Aluminum Platter

The M6xTT features a 39 mm-thick aluminum platter weighing 6.6 kg.

Its substantial mass provides rotational inertia, while integrated TPE damping helps control platter resonance. An inverted bearing with a ceramic ball tip supports the rotating assembly.

A seamless, one-piece belt connects the motor to the platter, eliminating the glued joint found in some conventional belts.

 

Precision Electronic Speed Control

The M6xTT supports both 33⅓ and 45 rpm playback with electronic speed selection.

Its motor is driven by a precision DC-powered AC generator. Rather than relying directly on the frequency and voltage supplied by the electrical mains, the control electronics generate the motor's operating signal.

This approach allows Musical Fidelity to manage the motor's operating conditions as part of the turntable's speed-control system.

 

A Dedicated 9-Inch Tonearm

The M6xTT includes a specially developed 9-inch Musical Fidelity tonearm.

Derived from the M8xTT's design, it features a transparent acrylic bearing ring, tapered aluminum arm tube, and streamlined headshell.

Both vertical tracking angle (VTA) and azimuth are adjustable, allowing the cartridge's position to be refined during setup. Two TPE-damped counterweights are supplied to accommodate different cartridge configurations.

The tonearm uses a five-pin DIN output, providing flexibility when selecting a suitable phono interconnect.

 

Magnetic Support and Adjustable Leveling

Four substantial aluminum feet incorporate TPE damping and magnetic support.

Their height can be adjusted by rotating the central section, allowing the turntable to be leveled accurately on its supporting surface.

The feet also connect the two acrylic plinths, making them an integral part of the M6xTT's mechanical construction.
