The MHT300 delivers:

In a movie soundtrack, demanding moments rarely happen in just two speakers. Explosions, music, effects, dialogue, and ambient information can place significant demands on multiple channels simultaneously.

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

Out of the box, the MHT300 can power systems up to 7.2 or 5.2.2 channels using its seven internal amplifier channels.

Expand All the Way to 7.2.4

The MHT300 doesn't lock you into seven amplified channels forever.

Additional external power amplifiers can be connected through its Height 1 and Height 2 outputs, allowing the theater to expand into a 7.2.4-channel immersive system.

For example, an external multichannel amplifier can be added later to power additional height speakers.

That gives you the ability to start with a simpler theater today and expand the system as the room, budget, or ambitions grow.

Upgrade Individual Channels Too

Expansion isn't limited to adding more speakers.

The MHT300 also allows individual internal amplifier channels to be bypassed so selected speakers can be powered by external amplifiers.

That means you could add a more powerful stereo amplifier for the front left and right speakers, or a dedicated mono amplifier for the center channel, while allowing the MHT300 to continue powering the remaining channels.

This is a major advantage for customers who want the simplicity of an AVR now but may eventually move toward a more elaborate separates-based system.

Dirac Live Room Correction

The room itself has an enormous effect on what you hear.

That's why the MHT300 includes Dirac Live Room Correction, which analyzes how the speakers interact with the room and applies corrective processing to improve performance.

Dirac Live works in both the frequency and time domains, helping address acoustic issues caused by room dimensions, placement, reflections, and seating position.

Properly configured, room correction can improve:

eARC for High-Resolution TV Audio

The HDMI output supports eARC, allowing a compatible television to return high-resolution audio to the MHT300 through the same HDMI cable used for video.

That gives the system access to advanced formats such as Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DTS:X when supported by the connected TV and source.

It's a cleaner installation and a major improvement over relying on the television's built-in speakers or a basic soundbar.

Seven Premium 32-Bit DACs

Digital-to-analog conversion is handled by seven premium 32-bit DACs, giving every channel the level of digital processing expected from a high-performance McIntosh component.

That is especially important in an AVR because nearly everything passes through the digital processing stage: streaming audio, Blu-ray soundtracks, HDMI sources, surround decoding, room correction, and bass management.

If changes are made later, the original setup can be restored from a backup.

Control4 and Crestron Integration

The MHT300 is ready for advanced smart-home systems.

It has received Connects with Control4 certification, including support for Control4's Simple Device Discovery Protocol.

It also carries Works with Crestron Home certification.

RS232 control provides another integration path for custom automation systems.

For a dedicated theater or whole-home project, this allows the MHT300 to operate as part of the larger control system rather than as an isolated piece of equipment.

Rack It or Put It on Display

The MHT300 retains the classic McIntosh design language with a black-glass front panel, illuminated McIntosh logo, rotary controls, silver trim, and familiar McIntosh proportions.

It looks good enough to display openly in a media room.

But if the system is being professionally installed, the MHT300 also fits a 3U equipment rack, and rack-mounting brackets are included.
