The MartinLogan ElectroMotion ESL C is a high-performance three-way electrostatic center channel speaker engineered to bring the speed and transparency of MartinLogan's ElectroMotion floorstanding speakers into a compact home theater center channel. XStat CLS Electrostatic Midrange

At the heart of the ESL C is MartinLogan's XStat CLS electrostatic transducer. The system uses two 6.375 × 9-inch electrostatic sections with a combined 114 square inches of radiating area. MartinLogan, Ltd.

Unlike a conventional cone midrange, the electrostatic diaphragm has extremely low moving mass. Its gently curved CLS geometry provides 30° horizontal dispersion, helping maintain consistent dialogue and midrange performance across multiple seating positions.

Folded Motion Tweeter

High frequencies are handled by a 1 × 1.4-inch Folded Motion Transducer using a much larger 5.25 × 1.75-inch diaphragm.

The Folded Motion design uses a low-mass pleated diaphragm to move air through controlled squeezing motion rather than operating like a conventional dome tweeter. In the ESL C, it extends high-frequency reproduction to 23 kHz while complementing the transient characteristics of the electrostatic midrange. MartinLogan, Ltd.

CenterForce Dual-Woofer System

MartinLogan developed its CenterForce architecture specifically to package substantial bass capability into the ESL C's relatively compact cabinet.

Instead of placing the woofers beside the electrostatic panel, two 5.25-inch high-excursion aluminum-cone woofers are housed centrally behind the tweeter and electrostatic assembly. Their rigid, lightweight diaphragms and extended-throw motor assemblies provide the low-frequency foundation while keeping cabinet height to just 7.6 inches. MartinLogan, Ltd.

Three-Way Crossover Architecture

The ElectroMotion ESL C crosses its three driver systems at 600 Hz and 3,400 Hz, allowing each transducer to operate within its intended range.

The crossover incorporates a custom-wound audio transformer, air-core coils, low-DCR steel-laminate coils, and polyester capacitors. This network is particularly important in a hybrid electrostatic design because it must integrate three fundamentally different transducer technologies into a coherent center channel. Designed for an ElectroMotion Home Theater

The ESL C is specifically designed to complement MartinLogan's ElectroMotion ESL and ElectroMotion ESL X floorstanding electrostatic speakers.
