Overview

Marantz SACD 10 Reference SACD & CD Player

The Marantz SACD 10 is the ultimate expression of Marantz disc playback—a reference-level SACD and CD player designed for listeners who want the very best from their physical music collection.

Built around the proprietary Marantz SACDM-3 transport mechanism, SACD 10 combines precision disc playback with updated Marantz Musical Mastering digital conversion, next-generation HDAM circuitry, dual toroidal power supplies, balanced XLR outputs, and extensive digital connectivity.

And SACD 10 isn't limited to discs. With USB and digital inputs supporting high-resolution audio up to DSD256 and PCM 384 kHz/32-bit, it can also serve as the reference digital source and DAC at the heart of a serious two-channel system.

Marantz SACDM-3 Transport

At the center of SACD 10 is the Marantz-designed SACDM-3 transport mechanism.

Developed specifically for reference SACD and CD playback, the transport is engineered for maximum rejection of mechanical resonance and provides the stable foundation required to extract the finest musical information from a disc.

For listeners with serious SACD and CD collections, SACD 10 represents Marantz's highest level of physical-media playback.

Marantz Musical Mastering

Digital conversion is handled by Marantz's updated Marantz Musical Mastering (MMM) architecture.

Rather than relying on a conventional off-the-shelf DAC implementation, Marantz uses its proprietary MMM-Conversion and MMM-Stream technologies to process the digital signal before conversion to analog.

Selectable digital filters, dithering, noise shaping, jitter reduction, and dedicated master-clock architecture provide extensive control over the digital signal path while maintaining the musical character Marantz is known for.

A Reference DAC for External Sources

SACD 10 can do considerably more than play discs.

Its digital inputs allow external sources to take advantage of the player's reference-level digital conversion and analog output stages.

USB-B provides asynchronous DAC operation with complete isolation and supports high-resolution playback up to DSD256 and PCM 384 kHz/32-bit.

Optical and coaxial digital inputs provide additional connectivity for other digital sources, making SACD 10 capable of serving as the central DAC in a high-performance audio system.

Next-Generation HDAM

After digital conversion, the analog signal is handled by Marantz's latest HDAM output circuitry.

The new-generation HDAM design provides the speed, low noise, resolution, and musicality required to preserve the information recovered by the SACDM-3 transport and Marantz Musical Mastering architecture.

Both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs are provided, allowing SACD 10 to integrate easily into reference-level preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers.

Dual Toroidal Power Supplies

Power supply design is critical in a reference digital source.

SACD 10 uses dual power supplies with toroidal transformers, providing dedicated, stable power for its sensitive internal circuitry.

Combined with extensive internal shielding and isolated sub-enclosures, the design helps prevent electrical and mechanical interference from compromising the audio signal.

Serious Headphone Listening

SACD 10 also includes a fully discrete headphone amplifier rather than treating headphone playback as an afterthought.

Three selectable gain settings—Low, Mid, and High—allow the headphone stage to be matched to a wide range of headphones.

This makes SACD 10 equally capable as a reference personal-listening source without requiring a separate headphone amplifier.

Reference-Level Construction

The physical construction of SACD 10 reflects its position at the top of the Marantz lineup.

A triple-layer copper-plated chassis provides an extremely rigid foundation, while isolated internal sub-enclosures help protect sensitive circuits from interference.

The chassis is complemented by substantial aluminum side and top panels, copper shielding, original multi-layer circuit boards, and solid-aluminum feet with copper construction.

At approximately 73 pounds, SACD 10 is built more like a reference analog component than a conventional disc player.

Classic Marantz Design

SACD 10 combines its substantial construction with the modern design language of the Marantz Reference 10 Series.

A machined aluminum front panel, sculpted controls, adjustable illumination, and minimalist OLED display create a component that visually matches the MODEL 10 and LINK 10n.

Available in Marantz Black or Marantz Champagne, SACD 10 can serve as a standalone reference source or complete a full Marantz Reference 10 Series system.
