The DALI KORE is the Danish manufacturer's flagship floorstanding loudspeaker, bringing four decades of acoustic research, advanced driver engineering, and Danish craftsmanship together in a formidable reference speaker. Designed and manufactured in Denmark, the KORE introduces technologies developed specifically for DALI's most ambitious loudspeaker, including Balanced Drive SMC, second-generation Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC Gen-2), and the EVO-K hybrid tweeter.

Standing nearly 66 inches tall and weighing approximately 353 pounds per speaker, the KORE features dual 11.5-inch bass drivers, a dedicated 7-inch midrange, and a hybrid high-frequency system combining a 35mm soft dome with a planar tweeter. Its 26Hz–34kHz frequency response, 118dB maximum sound pressure level, and substantial power-handling capability make it a compelling foundation for a reference two-channel system in a dedicated listening room.

Every major component, from the magnetic motor systems and crossover inductors to the cabinet structure and composite plinth, has been developed with the goal of reducing distortion, controlling resonance, and preserving musical detail.

Balanced Drive SMC and Dual 11.5-Inch Bass Drivers

The KORE introduces DALI's patented Balanced Drive SMC technology, combining dual voice coils with the company's second-generation Soft Magnetic Compound material.

Both 11.5-inch woofers incorporate this motor architecture to address nonlinearities within the magnetic system, reducing unwanted harmonic distortion and improving control over the drivers' movement.

SMC Gen-2 offers exceptionally low electrical conductivity while retaining the magnetic properties required for an effective loudspeaker motor. This helps reduce eddy currents and magnetic hysteresis, two contributors to distortion in conventional driver designs.

The large bass drivers operate within a carefully engineered bass-reflex enclosure, providing the displacement and dynamic capability required to reproduce deep bass instruments, large orchestral recordings, and demanding musical transients.

Dedicated 7-Inch Midrange Driver

The KORE features DALI's first dedicated 7-inch midrange driver, developed specifically for this loudspeaker.

Its paper and wood-fibre diaphragm incorporates a thinner, lighter rubber surround designed to improve transient response and minimize unwanted mechanical resistance. The driver also benefits from Balanced Drive SMC technology, allowing DALI to apply its low-distortion motor design to the frequencies most critical to vocals and acoustic instruments.

By dedicating a separate driver to the midrange, the KORE allows its large woofers to concentrate on low-frequency reproduction while the hybrid tweeter handles the upper frequencies.

This arrangement is intended to preserve subtle musical information and maintain clarity during complex passages, particularly when listening at higher sound pressure levels.

EVO-K Hybrid Tweeter

The DALI KORE introduces the EVO-K hybrid tweeter, an evolution of the hybrid high-frequency technology found throughout DALI's premium loudspeaker ranges.

The system combines a newly developed 35mm soft dome tweeter with a 10 × 55mm planar element. The oversized soft dome is designed and manufactured in-house, while the planar tweeter features a redesigned magnet system and increased sensitivity.

The two drivers operate together to provide extended high-frequency reproduction, wide horizontal dispersion, and consistent performance across the listening area.

This approach reflects DALI's preference for broad, controlled dispersion, allowing the loudspeaker to deliver a stable stereo image without requiring extreme toe-in or a narrowly defined listening position.

Advanced Crossover with SMC-KORE Inductors

The KORE incorporates an elaborate crossover network featuring inductors made with DALI's proprietary low-loss SMC material.

Conventional crossover inductors can introduce unwanted distortion through their magnetic cores. DALI's SMC-KORE inductors are designed to reduce these effects while maintaining the electrical characteristics required for precise crossover operation.

The KORE uses a 3½ + ½-way crossover configuration, with crossover frequencies at 390Hz, 2.1kHz, and 12kHz.

This network integrates the dual woofers, dedicated midrange, soft dome tweeter, and planar element while maintaining the frequency response and dispersion characteristics established during the loudspeaker's development.

Danish Cabinet Design and Acoustic Isolation

The KORE's enclosure is as technically ambitious as its driver system. Its curved cabinet is constructed from form-pressed laminate with extensive internal bracing, separate driver enclosures, and mechanically anchored baffles.

Dual-flare bass-reflex ports are designed to manage airflow and reduce unwanted port noise during demanding low-frequency passages.

The cabinet rests on a precision-cast resin composite plinth weighing more than 34kg. In addition to providing a stable foundation for the substantial enclosure, the non-magnetic plinth houses and shields the crossover components while isolating them from unwanted vibration and internal air pressure.

The exterior is finished in high-gloss Ammara Ebony with six layers of clear lacquer. Its sculpted profile, premium materials, and substantial proportions reflect the level of craftsmanship associated with DALI's flagship loudspeaker.
