Klipsch Heresy IV Floorstanding Speakers

The compact Klipsch Heritage legend—now with deeper bass, updated horn technology, and the unmistakable dynamics that made Heresy famous.

First introduced in 1957, the Klipsch Heresy IV is a compact three-way floorstanding speaker built around the principles that have defined Klipsch Heritage loudspeakers for generations: high efficiency, horn-loaded compression drivers, powerful dynamics, and handcrafted American cabinetry.

The fourth-generation Heresy receives substantial acoustic upgrades, including a new K-702 midrange compression driver, K-704 Tractrix horn, titanium-diaphragm tweeter, redesigned crossover network, and—for the first time in Heresy history—a rear-firing Tractrix port. The result is deeper bass extension and a more refined presentation without sacrificing the speed and efficiency that define the Heresy.

Classic Three-Way Horn-Loaded Design

The Heresy IV combines a large 12-inch fiber-composite woofer with horn-loaded midrange and high-frequency compression drivers.

This three-way architecture allows each driver to operate within a focused frequency range while maintaining the extraordinary efficiency for which Klipsch Heritage speakers are known.

With 99dB sensitivity, the Heresy IV can produce substantial output with relatively modest amplifier power, making it an excellent match for everything from high-quality tube amplifiers to powerful modern solid-state electronics.

K-702 Midrange + Tractrix Horn

A K-702 compression driver with a 1.75-inch polyimide diaphragm handles the critical midrange frequencies.

It is coupled to Klipsch's K-704 Tractrix horn, providing broad coverage and controlled dispersion throughout the listening area.

The combination delivers the immediacy, vocal presence, and dynamic impact associated with classic Klipsch horn-loaded loudspeakers while improving smoothness and consistency across the listening position.

Titanium-Diaphragm Tweeter

High frequencies are handled by the K-107-TI 1-inch titanium-diaphragm compression driver.

Klipsch equips the tweeter with a wide-dispersion phase plug engineered to provide more even high-frequency coverage and a broader, more consistent listening area.

The result is crisp transient response and the effortless sense of scale that has long distinguished Klipsch Heritage loudspeakers.

12-Inch Fiber-Composite Woofer

A 12-inch K-28-E fiber-composite woofer gives the Heresy IV considerably more physical impact than its relatively compact cabinet might suggest.

The large woofer works with the speaker's rear Tractrix port to provide fast, authoritative low-frequency reproduction while preserving the high sensitivity fundamental to the Heresy design.

Heresy Gets a Tractrix Port

The Heresy IV is the first generation in the model's history to use a rear-firing port.

Klipsch's Tractrix port incorporates carefully shaped inner flares designed to reduce air turbulence and port noise. The new bass-reflex architecture improves low-frequency extension by almost 10Hz compared with the previous generation.

Frequency response now reaches 48Hz–20kHz ±4dB, giving the Heresy IV greater bass weight while retaining its compact proportions.

Completely Redesigned Crossover

Klipsch completely revoiced the Heresy IV with a new high-fidelity crossover network using premium components.

The network draws from the steep-slope three-way designs used in legendary Heritage models including the Klipschorn, La Scala, and Cornwall.

Crossover points are set at 850Hz and 4.5kHz, integrating the 12-inch woofer, horn-loaded midrange, and titanium compression tweeter into a cohesive three-way system.

Exceptional Efficiency

One of the Heresy IV's greatest strengths remains efficiency.

At 99dB sensitivity, it requires dramatically less amplifier power to reach realistic listening levels than many conventional loudspeakers.

Power handling is rated at 100 watts continuous / 400 watts peak, with maximum continuous output specified at 116dB.

That combination of efficiency and output capability gives the Heresy IV its characteristic sense of immediacy and dynamic scale.

Handcrafted Heritage Cabinetry

Heresy IV cabinetry is handcrafted in Hope, Arkansas, continuing a Klipsch Heritage manufacturing tradition spanning more than five decades.

Heritage speaker pairs use book-matched wood veneers cut from the same timber and arranged to create complementary grain patterns. Finished pairs are inspected and given sequential serial numbers.

The removable slant riser angles the speaker toward the listening position and can also be removed for alternative placement or installation.

Technical Specifications

Klipsch's current product page lists Satin Black Ash, Distressed Oak, and American Walnut, while the technical sheet also references Natural Cherry. For the Shopify variant selector, I would use only the finishes actually available to you rather than automatically loading every historically documented finish.

Klipsch Heresy IV at The Grid HiFi

The Klipsch Heresy IV is one of the most recognizable American loudspeaker designs ever produced. Its 12-inch woofer, horn-loaded compression drivers, 99dB sensitivity, handcrafted Heritage cabinetry, and remarkably compact footprint make it equally compelling for dedicated two-channel systems, vinyl listening rooms, and high-impact home audio.

The Grid HiFi can help pair the Heresy IV with the right tube or solid-state amplification, turntable, streamer, subwoofer, cabling, and system setup to get the most from this Klipsch Heritage classic.
