Movies are downloaded from the Kaleidescape movie store and stored locally for playback.

With a gigabit Ethernet connection, a 4K movie can download in as little as 10 minutes, depending on the title and network conditions.

Once downloaded, playback doesn't depend on maintaining a continuous internet stream.

The player also manages storage automatically. Downloaded movies become eligible for automatic deletion 48 hours after playback to make room for additional titles.

Purchased movies remain available to download again.

It operates as a complete standalone movie player.
