With third-generation native 4K D-ILA imaging, Gen2 8K/e-shiftX, a 2,700-lumen BLU-Escent laser, 100,000:1 native contrast, 8K60 and 4K120 input capability, and JVC's excellent Gen2 Frame Adapt HDR processing, the RS3200 delivers the kind of black level, contrast and image depth that has made JVC a favorite for high-end projection.

Native 4K D-ILA + Gen2 8K/e-shiftX

The RS3200 uses three third-generation 0.69-inch native 4K D-ILA devices with a native resolution of:

4096 × 2160

JVC then adds its second-generation 8K/e-shiftX technology to create an:

8192 × 4320 displayed image

The system rapidly shifts the native 4K image in four directions while JVC's latest 8K scaling engine extracts additional detail from both 4K and 8K source material.

JVC's dynamic laser system can further control light output and completely shut down during a full-black image for an Infinity:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

But it's the native contrast during actual movie scenes that matters most.

Deep blacks give the image dimensionality, preserve shadow detail and allow bright objects to stand out against genuinely dark portions of the picture.

In a properly designed dark theater, the difference is significant.

2,700-Lumen BLU-Escent Laser

The RS3200 uses JVC's BLU-Escent laser light source to produce up to:

Laser output can be adjusted across 101 individual steps, allowing the projector to be precisely matched to the screen size, screen gain and target brightness of the room.

Gen2 Frame Adapt HDR

HDR is one of the most challenging things for any projector to reproduce correctly.

JVC's Gen2 Frame Adapt HDR analyzes HDR10 material scene-by-scene or frame-by-frame and dynamically adjusts tone mapping around the projector's available dynamic range.

The RS3200 also uses both DML and MaxCLL metadata when determining HDR levels.

Instead of applying one fixed HDR curve to an entire movie, the projector continually adapts to what's happening on screen.

Frame Adapt HDR Vivid

JVC's newer Frame Adapt HDR Vivid mode expands on its dynamic HDR processing.

It improves contrast and color expression by increasing the impact of brighter areas while extracting greater detail from darker portions of the image.

The result is a more dimensional HDR presentation rather than simply making the entire image brighter.

Highlight Color Control

More brightness doesn't necessarily produce a better HDR image if color saturation disappears in the brightest scenes.

JVC's Highlight Color Control works with Frame Adapt HDR to balance brightness and saturation in high-intensity portions of the picture.

Low, Mid and High settings allow the presentation to be adjusted for the specific room, screen and viewer preference.

Deep Black Tone Control

The RS3200's Deep Black Tone Control focuses specifically on the darkest portions of HDR material.

Combined with the projector's 100,000:1 native contrast, it helps preserve subtle shadow gradation while maintaining the deep blacks that make night scenes, space scenes and dark interiors look convincing.

Theater Optimizer

The same projector can behave very differently on a 100-inch screen than it does on a 150-inch screen.

JVC's Theater Optimizer allows screen size and screen gain to be entered into the projector.

Frame Adapt HDR can then use that information when determining how HDR content should be tone-mapped.

It's exactly how a high-end projector should be approached—the projector and screen work together as part of the room.

65mm All-Glass Lens

The RS3200 uses a 65mm all-glass lens constructed from:

The optical system is designed to maintain high resolution across the projected image.

That's particularly important with 8K/e-shiftX. Creating additional resolution inside the projector doesn't accomplish much if the lens can't accurately resolve that detail onto the screen.

The RS4200 is the flagship, but the RS3200 retains a surprising amount of its technology.
