JTR Noesis 215RT Reference Tower | Dual 15" 3-Way Loudspeaker

The JTR Noesis 215RT Reference Tower is a no-compromise, high-output 3-way loudspeaker engineered for reference two-channel listening rooms and large-scale home theater systems. Combining dual 15-inch woofers with an ultra-high-performance coaxial compression driver and a massive wooden horn, the Noesis 215RT is designed to deliver the dynamics and effortless output of a professional system with the imaging, frequency extension and refinement demanded from a high-end home loudspeaker.

With a rated frequency response of 18 Hz to 24 kHz ±3 dB, 95 dB sensitivity and usable output rated at 128 dB, the 215RT is capable of functioning as a genuinely full-range loudspeaker while maintaining enormous dynamic headroom.

Dual 15-Inch Woofers

The Noesis 215RT uses two 15-inch woofers in a vented enclosure, giving the Reference Tower substantial low-frequency displacement and exceptional dynamic capability.

The woofers feature 19 mm Xmax, reduced moving mass, increased mechanical excursion capability and JTR-specific surround, cone and spider designs.

A 17 Hz tuned bass-reflex enclosure extends low-frequency response deep into subwoofer territory, while large ports are used to minimize turbulence and compression during high-output passages.

JTR rates the Noesis 215RT down to an exceptional 18 Hz ±3 dB.

Coaxial Compression Driver

Above the dual woofers, the Noesis 215RT uses a sophisticated neodymium coaxial compression driver with annular diaphragms.

Unlike a conventional loudspeaker with physically separated midrange and high-frequency drivers, the JTR coaxial architecture is physically concentric and acoustically time aligned.

This allows the midrange and high frequencies to behave much more like a point source, helping create precise imaging and a coherent soundstage even at extremely high playback levels.

Large Wooden 70° × 70° Horn

The coaxial compression driver is loaded by a substantial wooden horn with a 70° × 70° coverage pattern.

Horn loading extends down to approximately 500 Hz, allowing the compression driver to handle a broad portion of the audible spectrum while maintaining high efficiency and controlled directivity.

The symmetrical horn geometry and low crossover points are designed to provide consistent power response throughout the listening area rather than simply optimizing response directly on axis.

Point-Source Architecture

One of the defining characteristics of the Noesis 215RT is JTR's emphasis on point-source behavior.

The drivers are acoustically time aligned so their output arrives coherently at the listening position and appears to originate from the same location.

This approach combines the scale and dynamic capability of a large horn-loaded loudspeaker with the precise imaging and spatial coherence expected from a serious high-end two-channel system.

Extraordinary Dynamic Capability

The Noesis 215RT is built for listeners who want realistic playback levels without forcing the loudspeaker to operate near its limits.

JTR rates usable output at 128 dB, based on a calculated 131 dB peak minus 3 dB for compression. The midrange section itself is capable of extreme output, providing tremendous headroom through one of the most demanding portions of the audible spectrum.

JTR also publishes CEA-2010 measurements of 126.3 dB at 20 Hz and greater than 137 dB average output from 40–125 Hz, measured in half-space at one meter.

The result is a loudspeaker capable of reproducing explosive cinema dynamics and large-scale music with enormous headroom.

95 dB Sensitivity

Despite its exceptionally deep bass capability, the Noesis 215RT maintains a rated sensitivity of 95 dB at 2.0 volts in free air.

That high efficiency allows the speaker to produce substantial output without requiring extreme amplifier power for normal listening, while its ability to accept up to 2,000 watts RMS program power provides enormous headroom when paired with appropriately capable amplification.

Nominal impedance is 4 ohms.

Full-Range Performance for Music & Cinema

The Noesis 215RT occupies an unusual position between a reference HiFi loudspeaker and an extreme-output cinema system.

Its 18 Hz–24 kHz ±3 dB frequency response means it can operate as a genuinely full-range loudspeaker in a two-channel system, while its controlled directivity and massive output capability make it equally compelling as a left/right speaker in a reference private cinema.

For home theater systems, dedicated subwoofers can still provide additional infrasonic output and more flexible room-mode management, while allowing the 215RTs to deliver exceptional midbass impact and dynamics.

Baltic Birch Construction

A loudspeaker with dual 15-inch woofers and this level of output requires an exceptionally substantial enclosure.

JTR constructs the Noesis 215RT from 24 mm, 18-ply void-free Baltic Birch plywood rather than conventional MDF.

The cabinet is heavily braced to control unwanted resonance and withstand the mechanical forces generated by the dual high-excursion woofers.

A Matte Black Paint finish and magnetically attached grille complete the purpose-built design.

Serious Connectivity

The Noesis 215RT uses a substantial binding post capable of accepting wire up to 2 AWG, providing a robust connection for the high-current amplification these loudspeakers can accommodate.

The crossover network incorporates quality polypropylene capacitors and perfect-lay inductors, reflecting JTR's emphasis on maintaining performance throughout the complete loudspeaker rather than concentrating solely on driver specifications.
