The JTR Captivator 2400 is a high-output 18-inch powered subwoofer designed for serious home theater and high-performance audio systems where deep extension, tremendous dynamic capability and a relatively compact enclosure are equally important. Combining JTR's 36 mm Xmax 18-inch driver, a built-in 2400-watt RMS DSP-controlled Class D amplifier and a bass-reflex enclosure tuned to 10 Hz, the Captivator 2400 delivers formidable low-frequency performance without requiring the enormous cabinet of JTR's larger Captivator models.

With a rated frequency response of 12 Hz to 165 Hz ±3 dB and in-room response extending below 10 Hz, the Captivator 2400 is capable of reproducing both powerful traditional bass and the ultra-low-frequency information found in demanding modern movie soundtracks.

High-Excursion 18-Inch Driver

At the heart of the Captivator 2400 is JTR's 18-inch high-excursion driver with 36 mm of Xmax.

The current driver incorporates a redesigned motor structure with more than a pound of aluminum within the motor and less than 1 mH of inductance. JTR states that this generation delivers approximately 30% lower distortion than its previous reference drivers, along with increased output and additional low-frequency capability.

That substantial excursion gives the Captivator 2400 the displacement required for exceptionally high output from a single 18-inch driver.

2400-Watt RMS DSP Amplifier

The Captivator 2400 is powered by an integrated 2400-watt RMS Class D amplifier with DSP optimized specifically for the driver and enclosure.

JTR's current DSP platform incorporates automatic input selection, advanced automatic turn-on and a lower noise floor. This allows the amplifier, driver and enclosure to function as a complete engineered system rather than as independently selected components.

Connectivity includes both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, along with a 12-volt trigger for integration with surround processors and control systems.

Bass-Reflex Design Tuned to 10 Hz

The Captivator 2400 uses a bass-reflex enclosure tuned to 10 Hz, providing remarkably deep extension from a cabinet measuring only 30 inches tall.

JTR incorporates a larger slot port designed to reduce turbulence and compression while increasing available output. Improved cabinet bracing and damping further support the high mechanical demands generated by the long-excursion 18-inch driver.

JTR specifies the Captivator 2400 at:

12 Hz – 165 Hz ±3 dB

with in-room response extending below 10 Hz.

Deep Bass Without an Enormous Cabinet

One of the Captivator 2400's strongest advantages is the amount of performance JTR packages into its 30" × 20" × 22.5" enclosure.

The cabinet is substantially easier to integrate into many dedicated theaters and media rooms than JTR's larger ultra-low-frequency models while retaining a 10 Hz enclosure tuning, 36 mm driver excursion and 2400 watts RMS of amplification.

That makes the Captivator 2400 particularly compelling for systems where both extreme bass capability and practical placement matter.

Completely Front-Firing Design

Both the driver and port are positioned on the front of the cabinet.

This completely front-firing configuration gives installers greater flexibility when placing the Captivator 2400 near walls, behind acoustically transparent screens or within appropriately designed theater structures.

For custom cinema applications, the relatively narrow 20-inch cabinet width can also make multiple-subwoofer layouts easier to accommodate.

Baltic Birch Construction

The Captivator 2400 is constructed from 18 mm, 13-ply void-free Baltic Birch plywood rather than conventional MDF.

JTR supplements the rigid enclosure material with improved internal bracing and damping to control the cabinet under the considerable forces generated by the high-excursion driver.

The exterior receives a Matte Black Paint finish and a magnetically attached grille provides a clean appearance.
