IsoAcoustics DELOS 1815W2 | Walnut Turntable Isolation Platform

The IsoAcoustics DELOS 1815W2 is a premium turntable isolation platform featuring a substantial 3-inch-thick walnut butcher block and four integrated IsoAcoustics isolators. Measuring 18 inches wide by 15 inches deep and supporting turntables or audio components up to 55 lbs, the 1815W2 combines significant mass with IsoAcoustics’ patented isolation technology to reduce structure-borne vibration and resonance. IsoAcoustics

Designed primarily for turntables, the DELOS creates a stable, mechanically isolated foundation between sensitive audio equipment and the surface beneath it. Its compact 18 × 15-inch footprint makes the 1815W2 particularly well suited to turntables that don't require the larger surface area of the 22 × 16-inch DELOS models.

3-Inch Walnut Butcher Block

The defining feature of the 1815W2 is its 3-inch (76mm) thick walnut butcher block. This is substantially thicker than the 1¾-inch platform used for the 1815W1.

That extra mass is functional, not simply aesthetic. IsoAcoustics combines the mass of the butcher block and supported component with its integrated isolation system to more effectively diminish structural vibrations and resonances. IsoAcoustics

The walnut construction gives the platform a rich, dark-brown appearance with natural variations in grain and coloration. Because the individual pieces of wood are selected and laminated together, each DELOS platform has its own unique appearance.

Four Integrated IsoAcoustics Isolators

The DELOS 1815W2 incorporates four IsoAcoustics isolators directly into the walnut butcher block.

Based on technology developed for the company's GAIA Series, the isolators use a multi-part design engineered so there is no single direct mechanical path between the supported component and the surface underneath it.

Rather than allowing vibration to simply pass through the platform or reflect back into the turntable, the isolators are designed to absorb and dissipate that mechanical energy. They are partially recessed into the butcher block and securely fastened to create an integrated isolation platform. IsoAcoustics

Designed to Isolate Sensitive Turntables

Turntables are particularly susceptible to vibration because the cartridge is designed to detect microscopic movements of the stylus in the record groove. Structural vibration from floors, furniture, loudspeakers and equipment racks can introduce unwanted mechanical energy into the playback system.

The DELOS 1815W2 decouples the turntable from its supporting surface, helping reduce those vibrations before they reach the turntable.

IsoAcoustics specifically recommends DELOS for turntables with external motors, provided both the turntable and motor fit on the platform. This keeps the turntable and motor together on the same isolated surface and at the same height. IsoAcoustics

55-Pound Weight Capacity

The DELOS 1815W2 is rated for components weighing up to 55 lbs (24.9kg).

The lower capacity compared with the thinner 1815W1 is intentional. IsoAcoustics tunes its isolators according to the combined mass of the platform and the component sitting on it. Because the W2's 3-inch butcher block contributes more mass, the recommended component capacity is 55 lbs.

IsoAcoustics notes that its specified limits are based on the optimal performance range of the isolators. The platform can physically support additional weight, but isolation performance begins to decline beyond its specified capacity. IsoAcoustics

Ideal for Turntables and HiFi Components

Although DELOS is primarily marketed as a turntable isolation platform, the 1815W2 can also be used beneath other vibration-sensitive audio components.

Tube amplifiers and preamplifiers are particularly relevant applications because vacuum tubes can be susceptible to mechanically induced vibration and microphonics. The DELOS can also provide an isolated foundation for phono stages, CD/SACD players and other appropriately sized HiFi electronics. IsoAcoustics

1815W2 vs. 1815W1

The key difference is the thickness of the walnut platform and corresponding weight capacity. The 1815W2 uses a 3-inch walnut block and supports up to 55 lbs, while the 1815W1 uses a 1¾-inch block and supports up to 65 lbs. Both measure 18 × 15 inches and use four integrated isolators. The W2 provides greater platform mass, while the W1 accommodates a heavier component. IsoAcoustics
