The Esoteric Grandioso C1X is a flagship reference line-stage preamplifier engineered for uncompromising two-channel audio systems. Its sophisticated dual-mono, fully balanced architecture, separate power supply chassis and proprietary ES-LINK Analog current transmission are designed to preserve musical detail, dynamic contrast and spatial accuracy between source components and power amplifiers.

Built in Japan, the Grandioso C1X combines Esoteric's advanced discrete analog circuitry with a precision 1,120-step volume control, high-current output buffers and extensive connectivity for reference digital and analog sources.

With 0.00035% total harmonic distortion, a 120dB signal-to-noise ratio and frequency response extending from 1Hz to 150kHz, the C1X provides the transparency, bandwidth and low-noise performance demanded by the finest high-end audio systems.

Dual-Mono, Quad-Balanced Circuit Architecture

The Grandioso C1X uses a fully independent left and right channel design, maintaining separation throughout the analog signal path.

Its quad-balanced configuration incorporates four independent circuits per channel, minimizing interference between positive and negative signal phases while maintaining exceptional channel separation.

Esoteric's proprietary IDM-01 discrete amplifier modules provide precise signal amplification, while carefully selected components and optimized circuit layouts minimize distortion and noise.

FET-based input switching eliminates conventional signal-path relays, helping preserve the integrity of low-level musical information.

Separate Power Supply Chassis

Unlike conventional single-chassis preamplifiers, the Grandioso C1X separates its audio circuitry from the power supply in two substantial aluminum enclosures.

The dedicated power supply employs five independent transformers, including four large-capacity toroidal transformers for audio circuitry and an R-core transformer for control functions.

Independent power delivery for the left and right channels reduces electrical interaction, while physical separation minimizes the transmission of transformer vibration into sensitive analog circuits.

High-capacity capacitors, Schottky barrier diodes and carefully engineered power regulation provide the stable electrical foundation required for exceptional dynamic performance.

Ultra Fidelity Attenuator System

The Grandioso C1X features Esoteric's Ultra Fidelity Attenuator System, delivering exceptionally precise volume adjustment across 1,120 steps in 0.1dB increments.

This high-resolution control provides accurate level matching, smooth adjustment and precise channel balance throughout the listening range.

Individual input gain can be adjusted by ±18dB, allowing source components with different output levels to be matched without abrupt volume changes. Left and right channel balance is independently adjustable by ±6dB.

ES-LINK Analog Current Transmission

Esoteric's proprietary ES-LINK Analog interface transmits audio using current rather than conventional voltage transmission.

This approach reduces sensitivity to cable impedance and helps maintain signal integrity between compatible Esoteric components.

The C1X provides three balanced input pairs supporting XLR or ES-LINK Analog operation, along with two dedicated ES-LINK Analog output pairs and two conventional balanced XLR output pairs.

Its high-current ESOTERIC-HCLD output buffer delivers exceptional drive capability, with a specified slew rate of 2,000V/µs.

The result is a preamplifier designed to maintain signal accuracy when driving demanding power amplifier inputs and complex reference systems.

Reference System Integration

The Grandioso C1X is designed for complete control of sophisticated two-channel systems.

Its connectivity supports multiple balanced and unbalanced sources, while four balanced output pairs accommodate elaborate amplification arrangements.

An AV Through function allows a designated input to integrate with a surround sound processor, enabling the same reference front-channel amplification system to serve both stereo music and home theater applications.

RS-232C control, 12V trigger connections and the supplied RC-1334 remote support convenient operation and custom system integration.
