Overview
Goldmund GAIA Active Floorstanding Speakers
Flagship Swiss-made active loudspeakers featuring 2,150 watts of integrated Telos amplification per speaker, eight drivers, five-way DSP architecture, and bass extension to 18.5Hz.
The Goldmund GAIA Active Speakers represent a monumental achievement in high-end loudspeaker engineering. Descended from Goldmund's legendary Apologue and Epilogue systems, GAIA combines advanced acoustic technology, fully integrated amplification, and architectural design in an extraordinary reference stereo system.
Standing 82.7 inches tall and weighing approximately 926 pounds per speaker, GAIA is a commanding presence. Each loudspeaker incorporates eight drivers, eight dedicated channels of Telos amplification, sophisticated digital signal processing, and Goldmund's proprietary Mechanical Grounding technology.
With 4,300 watts of total integrated amplification per stereo pair, GAIA delivers the scale, dynamic authority, and precision expected from a world-class reference audio system.
Eight Drivers and Five-Way Acoustic Architecture
Each GAIA loudspeaker features a carefully engineered eight-driver configuration covering five frequency bands:
-
Super Tweeter: One dome driver extending high-frequency reproduction to 30kHz
-
Tweeter: One dome driver reproducing frequencies from 2.7kHz to 12.5kHz
-
High Midrange: Two 4-inch drivers covering 600Hz to 2.7kHz
-
Low Midrange: Two 6-inch drivers covering 125Hz to 600Hz
-
Bass: Two 12-inch woofers extending to 18.5Hz (-6dB)
The combination of front- and rear-directed drivers contributes to GAIA's expansive acoustic presentation and room-filling performance.
2,150 Watts of Integrated Telos Amplification
Unlike conventional passive loudspeakers, Goldmund GAIA incorporates its own dedicated amplification system, eliminating the need for external power amplifiers.
Each speaker contains eight channels of Goldmund Telos amplification:
| Driver Section | Amplification per Speaker |
|---|---|
| Super Tweeter | 1 × 300W |
| Tweeter | 1 × 300W |
| High Midrange | 2 × 300W |
| Low Midrange | 2 × 300W |
| Bass | 2 × 350W |
| Total | 2,150W |
This architecture provides dedicated amplification for each driver, allowing precise control over the loudspeaker's individual frequency bands.
Goldmund Digital Signal Processing
GAIA integrates Goldmund's advanced DSP technologies, including Leonardo and Proteus LS, to optimize driver integration and acoustic performance.
The active crossover architecture operates in the digital domain, allowing precise management of frequency distribution, timing, and phase relationships.
By integrating amplification, digital processing, and loudspeaker design into a unified system, Goldmund maintains comprehensive control over the entire signal path.
Deep Bass with Dual 12-Inch Woofers
Each GAIA incorporates two 12-inch bass drivers in a vent-loaded enclosure, driven by a combined 700 watts of dedicated Telos amplification.
With low-frequency extension reaching 18.5Hz (-6dB), GAIA is engineered to reproduce the lowest musical fundamentals, large-scale orchestral dynamics, and powerful electronic bass with authority.
The dedicated bass amplification and DSP-controlled crossover help maintain precision throughout demanding passages.
Mechanical Grounding and Aluminum Construction
Goldmund's proprietary Mechanical Grounding technology is fundamental to GAIA's construction.
The loudspeaker uses a rigid internal support architecture engineered to control mechanical vibration and provide a stable foundation for its drivers.
Its enclosure is manufactured from Goldmund's specialized aluminum alloy, creating an exceptionally substantial structure with carefully controlled resonance characteristics.
Sculptural Design by Cécile Barani
Created in collaboration with French designer Cécile Barani, GAIA brings architectural sculpture into the world of reference audio.
Inspired by the elemental character of stone, its distinctive form combines strong geometric lines, subtly curved surfaces, and concealed assembly details.
Five vertically stacked enclosure sections create an imposing 2.10-meter structure that integrates into sophisticated architectural environments as both an acoustic instrument and a design statement.
Available finishes include Black and Silver Gray.
Digital and Wireless Connectivity
GAIA offers direct digital audio connectivity through:
-
S/PDIF digital input
-
Goldmund wireless audio input
Its integrated DAC, DSP, crossover, and amplification architecture allows compatible digital sources to connect without a conventional external preamplifier and power amplifier chain.
Wireless operation requires compatible Goldmund source equipment.
