The Focal Twin6 is a professional 2.5-way active studio monitor designed for recording, mixing and mastering. Featuring dual 6.5-inch W-cone drivers, a pure Beryllium inverted-dome tweeter and 190 watts of dedicated amplification, it delivers the detailed midrange, controlled bass and precise stereo imaging required for critical listening.

Part of Focal's ST6 professional monitoring range, the Twin6 incorporates Focus Mode, allowing engineers to switch between its full monitoring configuration and a single-driver reference mode. This provides two listening perspectives from one loudspeaker, making it easier to evaluate how a mix translates to smaller playback systems.

Dual 6.5-Inch W-Cone Drivers

The Twin6 uses two 6.5-inch W-cone drivers in a 2.5-way configuration. Unlike a conventional two-way monitor, which uses one woofer and one tweeter, the Twin6 divides low-frequency and midrange reproduction between its two larger drivers.

One driver handles bass reproduction, while the other reproduces bass and midrange frequencies. This arrangement provides greater radiating area for low frequencies while preserving the midrange clarity needed to evaluate vocals, guitars, keyboards and complex arrangements.

Focal's W-cone construction uses a structural foam core between layers of glass fiber. The resulting sandwich diaphragm balances rigidity, damping and low moving mass to help minimize unwanted coloration.

The Twin6 also incorporates Focal's Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) suspension technology to control resonance and improve midrange neutrality.

Focus Mode: Two Monitoring Perspectives

Focus Mode is one of the Twin6's most useful features for professional mixing and mastering.

In its normal configuration, the monitor delivers a frequency response of 40Hz to 40kHz using its dual W-cone drivers and Beryllium tweeter. Engaging Focus Mode switches the speaker into a single-driver configuration with a response of 110Hz to 10kHz.

This narrower frequency range provides a different perspective on the mix, making it easier to assess vocal placement, midrange balance and the relationship between instruments on playback systems with limited bass and treble extension.

Focus Mode can be activated using a compatible external footswitch, allowing engineers to switch monitoring configurations without interrupting their workflow.

Pure Beryllium Inverted-Dome Tweeter

The Twin6 incorporates Focal's pure Beryllium inverted-dome tweeter, designed to reproduce fine musical detail with exceptional speed and controlled dispersion.

Beryllium combines low mass with high rigidity, making it particularly effective for high-frequency reproduction. The inverted-dome design and optimized tweeter baffle help maintain consistent dispersion and precise stereo imaging.

For recording and mastering engineers, this resolution supports critical evaluation of equalization, vocal sibilance, percussion transients, reverberation and subtle spatial information.

In its standard monitoring configuration, the Twin6 extends to 40kHz, providing substantial high-frequency bandwidth for detailed studio work.

190 Watts of Dedicated Amplification

Each Twin6 incorporates three dedicated amplifier channels.

Its two W-cone drivers are powered by separate 70-watt Class G amplifiers, while a dedicated 50-watt Class AB amplifier drives the Beryllium tweeter. Together, they provide 190 watts RMS of amplification.

This configuration delivers independent power to each driver and supports the Twin6's maximum output of 112dB SPL at one meter.

The available headroom allows the monitor to reproduce demanding musical passages while maintaining control over bass, midrange and high-frequency information.

Left- or Right-Side Midrange Configuration

The Twin6 includes a rear-panel driver-selection control that allows the midrange function to be assigned to either of its two W-cone drivers.

This gives engineers greater flexibility when positioning the monitors in a stereo system. Depending on the studio layout, the midrange drivers can be arranged toward the inside or outside of the stereo pair.

The horizontal cabinet is particularly useful in control rooms where large mixing consoles, displays or other equipment influence speaker placement.

Its reinforced MDF enclosure and large laminar bass-reflex ports are engineered to reduce unwanted vibration and airflow noise during demanding monitoring sessions.

Acoustic Controls and Studio Integration

The Twin6 provides a balanced XLR input for connection to professional audio interfaces, mixing consoles and studio monitor controllers.

A selectable high-pass filter offers full-range, 45Hz, 60Hz and 90Hz settings, providing flexibility when adapting the monitor to different room conditions or integrating a compatible studio subwoofer.

Additional acoustic adjustments include low-frequency and high-frequency shelving controls, plus a dedicated low-midrange equalizer centered at 160Hz. This adjustment is particularly useful for compensating for reflections caused by large mixing consoles and desktop surfaces.

A switchable automatic standby function and front-panel status indicators complete the Twin6's professional control features.
