The Focal Trio11 Be is a high-output, three-way active studio monitor engineered for professional recording, mixing and mastering. Combining Focal's W-cone bass and midrange drivers, a pure Beryllium inverted-dome tweeter and 550 watts of dedicated amplification, it delivers the resolution, dynamic range and low-frequency extension required for demanding nearfield and midfield monitoring.

Its defining feature is Focal's Focus Mode, which transforms the Trio11 Be from a full-range three-way monitor into a two-way reference speaker at the touch of an optional footswitch. This allows engineers to evaluate a mix through two different monitoring configurations without switching to a second set of speakers.

With a frequency response extending from 30Hz to 40kHz, a maximum peak output of 118dB SPL and a rotatable midrange/tweeter assembly, the Trio11 Be combines substantial output capability with flexible studio integration.

Two Monitoring Systems in One

The Trio11 Be's Focus Mode provides two distinct monitoring configurations.

In its standard three-way configuration, the speaker uses its dedicated bass, midrange and high-frequency drivers to reproduce frequencies from 30Hz to 40kHz. This mode provides the full-range performance needed to evaluate low-frequency extension, tonal balance, dynamics and fine musical detail.

Engaging Focus Mode changes the speaker to a two-way monitoring configuration with a frequency response of 90Hz to 20kHz and a maximum peak output of 105dB SPL.

This second listening perspective is particularly valuable when checking how a mix translates to playback systems with limited bass extension. Engineers can evaluate vocal levels, midrange balance and instrumental relationships without the contribution of the large bass driver.

Focus Mode can be controlled through an optional footswitch, and dedicated Focus input and output connections allow coordinated operation of compatible monitors.

Focal W-Cone Bass and Midrange Drivers

The Trio11 Be incorporates a large W-cone bass driver and a dedicated 5-inch W-cone midrange driver.

Focal's composite sandwich-cone construction uses a structural foam core between two layers of glass fiber. This combination is engineered to balance rigidity, low moving mass and internal damping, helping the drivers reproduce complex musical information while controlling unwanted resonance.

The large bass driver provides the displacement required for deep, powerful low-frequency reproduction. The dedicated midrange driver handles the critical vocal and instrumental frequencies, allowing the system to maintain clarity during dense arrangements and demanding monitoring sessions.

Focal's Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) suspension technology further controls unwanted movement in the midrange driver's suspension, helping reduce coloration in a particularly sensitive part of the audible spectrum.

Pure Beryllium Inverted-Dome Tweeter

A 1-inch pure Beryllium inverted-dome tweeter provides the Trio11 Be's high-frequency reproduction.

Beryllium's combination of low mass and exceptional rigidity allows the tweeter to reproduce fine musical detail across an extended frequency range. Its inverted-dome geometry is designed to provide controlled dispersion and precise high-frequency reproduction.

For recording and mastering engineers, this level of resolution helps reveal subtle changes in equalization, vocal sibilance, reverberation, transient detail and spatial positioning.

The Trio11 Be's specified upper-frequency response extends to 40kHz in its standard three-way configuration.

550 Watts of Dedicated Amplification

The Trio11 Be uses three dedicated amplifier channels, with Class G amplification for the bass and midrange drivers and Class AB amplification for the tweeter.

The bass driver receives 300 watts, the midrange driver receives 150 watts, and the Beryllium tweeter is powered by a dedicated 100-watt amplifier.

This configuration provides a combined 550 watts of amplification, supporting the Trio11 Be's maximum peak output of 118dB SPL at one meter.

The available headroom makes it suitable for evaluating demanding musical passages, wide dynamic-range recordings and bass-heavy productions in professional control rooms.

Horizontal or Vertical Studio Placement

The Trio11 Be incorporates a rotatable aluminum mounting plate for its midrange driver and tweeter.

This assembly can be rotated in 90-degree increments, allowing the speaker to operate vertically or horizontally while maintaining the appropriate orientation of its midrange and high-frequency drivers.

The design also allows the bass driver to be positioned toward the inside or outside of a stereo pair, giving studio designers additional flexibility when working around mixing consoles, equipment racks and room-layout constraints.

Its reinforced enclosure and optimized bass-reflex ports are engineered to support high-output monitoring while controlling cabinet vibration and port noise.

Acoustic Controls and Professional Connectivity

The Trio11 Be features a balanced XLR input with selectable +4dBu and -10dBV sensitivity, accommodating professional monitor controllers, mixing consoles and compatible audio interfaces.

Rear-panel acoustic controls include adjustable low-frequency and high-frequency shelving filters, along with a dedicated low-midrange equalizer centered at 160Hz.

These adjustments help engineers compensate for room boundaries, monitor placement and the acoustic characteristics of their listening environment.
