The Focal SW 1000 Be is a high-performance powered subwoofer designed to deliver deep, controlled bass for premium hi-fi systems and dedicated home theaters. Developed to complement Focal's Sopra loudspeaker collection, it combines a French-made 13-inch W-cone woofer, a 600-watt RMS BASH amplifier and sophisticated digital signal processing in a substantial, front-ported enclosure.

With a frequency response of 20Hz to 150Hz and bass extension down to 18Hz at -6dB, the SW 1000 Be reproduces the lowest musical notes and demanding cinematic effects with authority. Its integrated 24-bit digital processor offers extensive room-adjustment options, while analog and digital inputs make it suitable for a variety of stereo and multichannel systems.

13-Inch French-Made W-Cone Woofer

The SW 1000 Be features a 13-inch (33cm) W-cone bass driver developed and manufactured by Focal in France.

Its sandwich-cone diaphragm uses a structural foam core between two layers of glass fiber. This construction balances rigidity, low moving mass and internal damping, helping the woofer maintain control during demanding low-frequency passages.

The large driver is engineered to reproduce the sustained bass of orchestral recordings, the impact of electronic music and the powerful low-frequency effects found in modern film soundtracks. Its combination of cone construction and substantial motor system supports detailed bass reproduction even at elevated listening levels.

600-Watt RMS BASH Amplifier

An integrated BASH amplifier delivers 600 watts RMS, with a maximum output rating of 750 watts.

This dedicated amplification provides the power needed to drive the SW 1000 Be's large woofer without requiring an external amplifier. It supports the subwoofer's ability to reproduce demanding low-frequency effects while maintaining the control necessary for high-resolution music playback.

Focal specifies a maximum sound pressure level of 118dB, giving the SW 1000 Be substantial output capability for larger listening rooms and dedicated home theater installations.

24-Bit Digital Signal Processing

One of the SW 1000 Be's defining features is its integrated 24-bit digital signal processor, which provides extensive control over low-frequency performance.

The adjustable low-pass filter operates from 50Hz to 150Hz, allowing the subwoofer's response to be tailored to the accompanying loudspeakers. An adjustable subsonic filter helps control the lowest frequencies, while variable phase adjustment supports precise integration with the main speakers.

Additional features include a configurable bass-boost mode, a Night mode for reduced low-frequency output and three user memories for storing different listening configurations.

These settings allow the SW 1000 Be to be adapted for music listening, movie playback and the acoustic characteristics of different rooms without relying exclusively on the controls of an external AV processor.

Front Laminar Port for Powerful Bass

The SW 1000 Be uses a bass-reflex enclosure with a large front-facing laminar port.

This port is engineered to minimize unwanted airflow noise and dynamic compression, allowing the subwoofer to reproduce demanding bass passages at elevated listening levels.

Its front-ported construction also provides placement flexibility when integrating the subwoofer into a dedicated listening room or home theater, although final positioning should always account for room acoustics and nearby boundaries.

The substantial enclosure and 42kg construction provide a stable foundation for the large W-cone driver and integrated amplifier.

Flexible Analog and Digital Connectivity

The SW 1000 Be includes dedicated LFE and stereo analog inputs, along with a coaxial S/PDIF digital input.

The LFE connection accommodates compatible AV receivers and surround sound processors, while the stereo inputs allow integration with two-channel audio systems. Its digital input provides an additional connection option for compatible digital audio sources.

Multiple SW 1000 Be subwoofers can also be linked together, allowing system designers to expand low-frequency output and create multi-subwoofer installations for larger rooms.

Designed to Complement Focal Sopra

Originally developed from Focal's Electra Be subwoofer, the SW 1000 Be was redesigned to complement the Sopra loudspeaker collection.

Its Black Lacquer finish and understated cabinet design make it a natural addition to systems built around Sopra floorstanding, bookshelf and center-channel speakers.

In a stereo system, it can extend low-frequency reproduction while allowing the main speakers to concentrate on their primary operating range. In a home theater, it provides the output and deep bass extension required for demanding LFE soundtracks.
