The Focal Sub 1000 F is a high-performance powered subwoofer designed to bring deep, controlled bass to premium home theater and high-fidelity stereo systems. Combining a 12-inch Flax sandwich-cone woofer with a powerful 1,000-watt BASH amplifier, it delivers the low-frequency impact of cinematic soundtracks and the precision required for demanding music reproduction.

Its sealed enclosure distinguishes it from conventional ported subwoofers, providing controlled bass response without port-related airflow noise. With bass extension down to 22Hz at -6dB, the Sub 1000 F reproduces the low-frequency effects, percussion and musical detail that smaller loudspeakers cannot fully convey.

12-Inch Flax Sandwich-Cone Woofer

At the heart of the Sub 1000 F is a 12-inch woofer developed and manufactured by Focal in France. Its Flax sandwich cone uses natural French flax fibers positioned between two thin layers of fiberglass.

This construction combines three important acoustic properties: low mass for dynamic response, rigidity for controlled bass reproduction and internal damping to limit unwanted coloration.

The woofer also incorporates a dual-magnet motor system designed to improve linearity and maintain strong magnetic force at the voice coil. Together, these technologies help the Sub 1000 F reproduce demanding low-frequency passages with definition and control, from the sustained bass notes of an organ to the sudden impact of a cinematic explosion.

1,000-Watt BASH Amplification

The Sub 1000 F features an integrated 1,000-watt BASH amplifier, eliminating the need for an external power amplifier.

Its high-power amplification is designed to provide the woofer with the energy required for demanding home theater soundtracks and dynamic music recordings. The combination of substantial amplifier output and a purpose-built driver allows the Sub 1000 F to deliver powerful low-frequency performance from a relatively compact enclosure.

Whether reproducing a dedicated LFE channel in a surround sound system or extending the bass response of stereo loudspeakers, the integrated amplifier provides the foundation for precise, high-impact bass.

Sealed Enclosure for Controlled Bass

Unlike a bass-reflex subwoofer, the Sub 1000 F uses a fully sealed cabinet. This design eliminates port noise and provides controlled low-frequency reproduction.

The enclosure incorporates thick panels and a substantial 40mm front baffle to provide a rigid foundation for the large woofer. Its high-gloss lacquered front panel and concealed mounting screws give the cabinet a clean, understated appearance.

The sealed design is particularly suitable for high-fidelity music systems and home theaters where bass definition is as important as sheer output. It also offers flexibility when positioning the subwoofer within a dedicated listening room or media room.

Bass Extension Down to 22Hz

With a frequency response of 24Hz to 200Hz (±3dB) and a low-frequency point of 22Hz at -6dB, the Sub 1000 F is engineered to reproduce deep bass that adds scale and realism to music and film.

In a home theater, it can reproduce the dedicated low-frequency effects channel while relieving compatible main speakers of demanding bass frequencies. In a two-channel system, it can extend the response of bookshelf or floorstanding loudspeakers, adding weight to bass instruments and large-scale recordings.

The adjustable crossover, ranging from 40Hz to 160Hz, allows the subwoofer to be integrated with a wide variety of loudspeakers.

Flexible Stereo and Home Theater Connectivity

The Sub 1000 F provides stereo line-level inputs and a dedicated LFE input, accommodating both two-channel audio systems and multichannel home theater processors.

For stereo installations, its adjustable crossover allows the subwoofer's output to be blended with the main loudspeakers. When connected to a compatible AV receiver or surround processor through the LFE input, bass management can be handled by the upstream component.

A selectable 0°/180° phase control helps optimize integration with the main speakers, while manual On and Auto power modes offer convenient operation.
